I swapped the radio from the stock, but all video inputs are disabled because you can't just ground out the terminal. It has to be pulsed. So I need a switch to pulse the terminal with. If I get the S switch, and it's graphic is stenciled on like the hazard light switch, I can get the stencil off or I can try to replace the head with the blank that's in there now so it looks no different than it does now, but with the ability to be pressed.
If the switch completes the circuit when pressed, it's useless to me. If it breaks the circuit when pressed, i can use it. That's what I was asking about in the first place.
So if you don't know, that's fine, but I was just trying to keep it looking kinda stock.

Default srm

Looks like this is an old thread, but I have to say I think I prefer SRM off for daily stop and go driving. There's something initally cool about the throttle blip when going from 3rd or neutral to 2nd for a simple turn, but it seems to wear off fast. I feel with SRM off I get a much smoother, linear acceleration and shift from 1st to 2nd.

If I were on the highway I think SRM is great, just not so sure I want it on every day.

My comments may be a bit biased considering 80% of the time I am driving an Acura with a manual transmission, perhaps with it off it's just an easier transition between the two.

Even though some of my friends don't like the Z but they have all praised about the synchroRev match technology. One of them (who drives a bmw) is totally amazed by the SRM and wishes if BMW would adapt this technology on the upcoming vehicle. I personally love the feature and still haven't turned off since I left the dealer lot. I gotta say, thanks Nissan to bring something new to the table.
AK, I haven't turned mine off either because of it's awesomeness. Is anything affected in the long term by keeping this system activated? I wouldn't think so, but I'm not too technical, so I thought I'd ask.

Sorry to necro this post, but just a question..
Its a given that the sport pkg (both 6MT and 7AT) has rev match, however, does the base 7AT have rev match as well?

7AT Sports package does NOT have SRM. It's a Manual transmission thing.

Well, the 7AT doesn't have a feature listed as "SRM", nor does it have a button for it, but it has the same basic electronics and then some. It automatically matches revs as it shifts for you (including correct downshift blips at any speed).

If anything, I would guess they developed the tech for the 7AT first (because it needs it to function correctly) and then someone had the awesome idea to use the same electronics and logic on the 6MT.

Very likely scenario.

Sorry for the bump but I figured this is the appropriate thread to ask my question in. I have recently bought CPOd Nismo Z. I noticed with S mode on when I upshift from 4th to 5th that it'll rev a bit going into 5th. I THINKS the reason is possibly because I typically have a slow 4th to 5th shift. When I did a fast upshift from 4th to 5th there was no automatic rev. So I assume my slower shift in that situation would make the SRM up rev the engine because it spent a little longer than usual in neutral. Is that right?

However...I didn't notice this in other gear up shifts even when I went slower on purpose. Thoughts?

Also, with S mode turned off, there's no up rev going into 5th gear even if I slow shift it

Sort of right. It's all about the RPMs the engine wants for your current gear/speed. If you stay in neutral long enough to drop below the ideal RPMs for your next gear, then it will rev match if you have SRM on. When downshifting, the RPMs will always be lower than what they should be for the next gear, and the car will always rev match. When upshifting, your RPMs are typically higher than what they will be for the next gear. The caveat you have found is when you stay in neutral too long on an upshift, the RPMs will continue to drop while in neutral and by the time you shift to the next gear the engine needs to rev match. If you have SRM turned off there is no automatic rev matching, and you should be doing the rev matching yourself to minimize wear on the clutch and transmission.

Thank you sir.

So I was kind of right. My slow 4th to 5th up shift means the car stays in neutral longer than it should and that causes RPM to drop. So when I do get into 5th the SRM will automatically rev to be in the right RPM for 5th.

What's weird is that it doesn't do this in other gear upshifts even if I purposely go slow

Are you sure it doesn't do it in other gears? Try it at like 60-70 mph in 3rd gear and hang in neutral before shifting to 4th. If you actually shift into the gear or at least hold the shifter at the gate with the clutch in and still in neutral, the engine will continue to rev match as the RPMs drop even as the car slows.

I distinctly remember on a couple of occasions the engine revving slightly when upshifting, even though I hadn't touched the gas pedal.

Jus did it 3rd to 4th with a longer pause in Neutral and it revved up. But what gets is that it seems the 4th to 5th shift is way way way more sensitive to the SRM revving up when going into 5th. Also, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. Really weird. Is it worth taking to the dealer?

Took q video of my 4th-5th upshift and the SRM blipping the rpm by 500. It's very frustrating and I'm taking the car to the dealer soon to get looked at. My foot was no where near the accelerator when this happened and it was a very clean deliberate upshift into 5th. What the hell is causing it to rev like that? Oh right, it's at 14 seconds in the video

In my eyes, SyncroRev alone made the jump from HR350 to 370 worth it.
