Magazine racing is stupid. Even more so when the track is wet. Why don't we race them on one wheel in the snow too.

AWD is great thats why they did better. I would think if you are doing an artical for a magazine you could wait a day to test the cars on a dry day and get a more true representation unless thats what they wanted from the get go. AWD is why Audi was killing people in races back in the day when they first came up with Quattro (for them) and they were actually forced to do things that the other race drivers didnt have to do to compensate for the advantage. 6.1 is a joke that I would be never print for fear of losing rep for the magazine and those that read it.

Wet track had a lot to do with the results, The 370Z will beat them when its normal conditions stock for stock. Depending on the Drivers Skills

Everywhere else, the Z is faster than the turbo 4's except this comparo. Not to counter you AK, but I have not seen a STI or Evo be faster than the Z in any other comparos...
Sorry, but D Sport test do not hold too much weight with me. I do like reading their articles however... |

Thanks for the great responses
Thanks for the response to this thread. Frankly, as many of you noted, it wouldn't matter to me if any of those cars were a little or much faster than the Z. They are still not a Z. The Z is a sportscar from the ground up with all the parts designed to work together not just for speed but for handling, poise, and so forth. The other cars look like sported up sedans. As for reliability, yeah, I wondered about those turbo-4's myself. Thanks for clearing up the wet track problem. At first I thought, well of course it is slower on a wet track but the other cars are running on the same wet track...except they are front/awd. Now it makes sense. In any event, I couldn't see the sense of paying $34 grand for a Mitsubishi or Subaru as opposed to $29 grand for a 370Z. Keep up the good work. I wish the magazine had done a better job of explaining how the tests were run and the meaning. If you have seen this issue, you know they don't.

My favourite is the 370z but Im also a great fan of the STi and the Evolution. They are much more than just an econobox sedan with a turbo slapped on. It's true that their image is somewhat tainted by the fast and furious boy racer type of people, but the fact remains that both the sti and evo have a very long and impressive heritage in rallying. They are legitimate performance cars based on legitimate race cars. They're not like your average honda civic with fart can, huge wing, flame paint, etc...
