Why bash the Beetle? As far as I'm concerned it's the best car to come out of Germany. Actually one of the best cars to come from any country. I'm assuming you are referring to the original Beetle.

I'm pretty sure there are a couple of guys with multiple track seasons on the stock suspension still running strong
Test Drive a Stock and NISMO. Even with the semi-high end NISMO suspension, it is a world of difference.

Yea and that 15k difference you can buy a BBK, coils, breather mods, differential, replace your csc, and get a tune....

Sport touring suspension when I did the dragon and I humbly can say it out performed my expectations. Only got passed by a pair of motorcycles (riding like tools) another guy- also driving like a tool when I was taking an easy run back to fontana with Tigger.

I've driven several of each. "World of difference" is a bit strong IMO, especially when talking about street driving. Plus, I wasn't really talking about comparisons between different packages (i.e. base and Nismo) on the same car - I figured he was comparing the handling deficiencies to other cars that are comparable to the Z.

I wrote a completely unbiased review from my own perspective recently. I still love the Z but realize there are better buys for similar money. I bought mostly because they sound AMAZING and are kinda uncommon in my neck of the woods. *cough-Corvettes everywhere-cough-cough*

What is there to like of Hitlers creation? ...lol Slow piece of junk...
"The need for this kind of car, and its functional objectives, was formulated by the leader of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler, who wanted a cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for his country's new road network. Hitler contracted Ferdinand Porsche in 1934 to design and build it.[12] Porsche and his team took until 1938 to finalize the design. "

No better buy than a Z for similar money...nothing. I have owned everything ...nothing beats a Z for the price, reliability, looks and performance...nothing.
Of course we all have different criteria of what is important I guess ...

In the realm of used cars there are many buys that can be had that rival the Z but believe whatever you want. Also, you've owned every thing? Rather bold statement there...

Sure, if you have the time, Space and tools. Otherwise, taking it to a mechanic at probably $85/hr and UP, you would get close with parts and labour. Not to mention downtime.

If all that is ok, then yes, you can save yourself $10k.

I understood what he meant regarding suspension. I was just using Z comparison to ILLUSTRATE what affect different suspension have on ANY car.

So I guess, what I really wanted to say is, "Yes, suspension does make a difference"

The way I read it is, he didn't think the Z outperforming the GT came down to suspension.

Oh... I was thinking all in would be under 10k for quality parts better than nismo and better sound.

Yes I agree. You didn't read my reply.

If Nismo is $15k more than stock, aftermarket parts Aprox. $5K, (do it yourself) YOU SAVE $10,000.

So yes, you can probably upgrade a Stock 370 for under or near $5K.

the hood is awkwardly placed, car feels large, base seats are bad.

Funny how an 09Z still feels overall better than a '15 GT.
How does the Z compare to the BMW M2, and M4 on the track? I'm asking because I truly don't know.

What I do know is that the 2015 BMW M4 ran a 1:23.73 around Streets of Willow per Motor Trend.
The 2016 BMW M2 ran a 1:24.27 around the same track.

The S550 Mustang GT pulled off a 1:24.32.

Very close times, and I'd say the Mustang was very impressive considering the price difference between it, and the above BMW's. New Mustangs are much more than hunks of metal that go fast.

The Mustang GT is a great car and the number it pulls around the streets of willow is great. But these numbers never tell the story on how a car actually feels in terms of driving experience. For example the Porsche Panamera Turbo does the streets of willow in 1:22.68 and I dont think anyone would consider it a better track car than any of those cars even the 370z.
