Fun Facts
I crunched some numbers just for my entertainment and thought I would share them with you.
370Z Base (non Nismo): Displacement - 226 cubic inches Horse Power - 332 = 1.46 HP/CI Weight - 3232 Lb = 9.73 Lb/HP 370Z Nismo: Displacement - 226 cubic inches Horse Power - 350 = 1.55 HP/CI Weight 3232 (?) = 9.23 Lb/HP 2015 Mustang GT 5.0: Displacement - 302 cubic inches Horse Power - 435 = 1.44 HP/CI Weight - 3810 Lb = 8.75 Lb/HP The "old" VQ37HR engine produces MORE HP per cubic inch than the new Coyote 5.0 The 'Stang has a better power to weight ratio. Performance advantage goes to the Mustang until you reach a corner. The lighter weight of the Z will give it a handling advantage. YMMV

Fun Facts
I'm pretty sure the Mustang would win a drag race but the Z would win an autocross. At least that is what is happening around here.
Lots of factors involved, especially driver skills. Z driver - "I did pretty good on that run" Mustang driver - "somebody hold my beer, hey yaw, watch this!"

Then you have the Japanese manufacturers innovating structural design: the new Mazda 6 sedan weighs a couple hundred pounds less than our Zs and is quite a bit larger. Same with the Accord sedan. Look at the new Miata weighing almost nothing comparatively. Really, Ford should have made a new Capri based off the Mustang that was smaller and had the 2.7L V6 from the F-series. That would be more of a Z competitor.

I don't find my 2013 Touring with Sports pkg and all options to be dated in the slightest. The only thing I'd see needing updates are the nav screen/audio interfaces to include Android/Apple updates.

But why? Yes, they're cool looking. But compared to everything today those cars are slow, poor-handling, crappy brakes. I think once the generation who is currently robbing their retirement accounts to bid up these types of 1960s and 70s cars are gone, the prices on these will plummet like a rock.

to me that's the best looking mustang, period. also, i highly doubt that their price will plummet.

"We" are "Inside" many things. And with the amount of hours I put in at work, I figure I probably make about $19.00 an hour. Added some price comparisons... Quote:
Don't get me wrong, I am and always will be a Z guy... but these American cars aren't "just" muscle anymore. |

That flat-plane 5.2 is amazing... I wish Nissan would get their $h*t together like Ford has finally done. Can you imagine what would happen if you threw boost at that monster?
Ford Releases Final Details On The GT350's Insane 5.2-Liter Engine Think they'll make a swap kit for the Z anytime soon?

And Lethal Performance slapped a SC on a 5.0 Coyote and ran 1/4 in 9sec. But I'm not interested in that... it's about going around a track with twists and turns. Adding weight to the front end screws that up. It always seems to be a cycle... starts with the Europeans, then the Japanese, until the Americans catch up. Right now it's the Americans. Everyone else needs to start again. It will happen... I think the Europeans will start with an affordable v6 with electric motor assist. Then the Japanese, hopefully Nissan, which leaves the Americans trying to play catch-up again. Over and Over... we get to reap the rewards! |

I just want a raw driver car. The only thing like a Z is a Porsche Cayman. Nismo compares to a Cayman GT4. Personally, I hate the nanny gadgets on the Z. Traction control and the stupid stability control suck. I don't need the syncro rev match either. I can heal/toe just fine without it. Just my .02.
