Where do you mount your detector? In my previous car I mounted it above the rearview mirror. It was out of sight for anyone looking in the car from the outside, but clearly visible to the driver and clear lines of sight to the front, sides and rear. Obviously with the Z the rear (and possibly side) visibility is limited if you mount it above the mirror.

I don't like it mounted above the 3-pod gauges, but I don't know where else in the Z it could possibly go.

As in the photo, I put my RD just above those three gauges using windshield mount with suction cups.

At first it was hard for me to get the exact spot of suction attached, but now I can do it rather easily. It is mounted in very stable condition if attached well.

If you put your RD near the rear-view mirror, it would be good for your RD to detect coming radar signals on its high position, but in the opposite it is pretty bad to get laser detection.

Usually LEOs would aim at your number plate and the threatening lasers (speed gun) emit by very narrow width/height.

Actually in most cases it will be too late for you to beat it when you get the alert unless you have additional laser defense kit installed, but anyway you'd better put your RD (Radar and Laser Detector) close to your number plate as possible if you want laser detection.

* Be careful. In some states the laser defense kits are illegal.

V1 or stay on the porch.

Used to have Escort shifters as well. Didn't need them often, but they did me well.
