My name is Tim Neil and I'm one of the co-founders of Workshop 12 where we want to bring the latest concept/connected car technology back to the cars that we own and love. Really modern technology and style, but in a way that looks like the car should have come this way from the factory.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about Brainiac. We haven't set ourselves up as a vendor as of yet, so I'm unable to post links to our product website. I want to make sure we follow the rules.

We're looking at expanding our snap-in kit line up to 6 additional vehicles this year and are working on figuring out which vehicles should be next. We already have 3-4 vehicles on preorder now (Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ, 05-07 WRX/STI, 02-05 350Z) which we are targeting for a July delivery date.

Here are a couple of pictures of Brainiac prototype installed in a 02-05 350Z:

Thanks for joining and posting, and for the responses to my tweets! Really looking forward to this!

@Tim Neil

Thanks for jumping in

I have 2 questions:

1. Will there be various languages give (especially German)?
2. I have a PLX WiFi permanently installed (OBD)
with the DashCommand App on the Ipad!
Will there be a WLAN interface?

Thank you for the answer!

Greetings from Switzerland
Ivo

The underlying Android OS can be configured for German. We plan to have our front end software support EFIGS (English, French, Italian, German, Spanish). At launch we will likely only have English, and then will provide the other languages as software updates.

Brainiac supports both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. You can even plug in a USB cellular modem if you wish to have an always on cellular connection.

For OBDII data we actually have a "T" cable that goes behind your dashboard and connects to your OBDII cable so that we don't block your OBDII port. You can think of our cable as kind of a "piggy-back". You unplug your existing cable from the back of the dashboard, plug it into our "T" cable and then plug our "T" cable into where your original cable was connected to the dashboard.

That way we have a constant wired connection to vehicle data without having to fiddle around with wireless connectivity all of the time
