I got hit by truck :(
My car got hit by a dodge truck backing out at the parking lot while I was at work. My rear bumber had a cracked on top part of the plate number and plate light was broken. My coworker saw the whole incident and she got the plate number of the truck. The driver took off and came back after I called a cop and reported her. She's willing to pay all the expenses, but I am just worried my transmission got damaged too. I left my car parked in gear and hand break was engaged.

Sorry to hear that man. Hope everything gets take care of and the Z goes back to normal afterwards!
|
why would she be willing to pay all the expenses, no insurance? Or just to many hit and runs? Did she get a ticket for leaving the scene too?
|
My guess is the transmission is fine. A car left in gear potentially can roll....that's how you start an engine by rolling the car downhill and releasing the clutch in 2nd. Sorry about the fender bender. That's a horrible feeling.
|
Sue her for emotional distress from the hit and run...if that can be done. Don't let her get away with running away. I would make her pay extra just for that.
Then repair the car in full, trade in get a 2010. :p |

Sorry to hear that, like others have mentioned, your tranny should be fine, let the insurance take care of it, and make sure the the body shop does a good job. Good Luck

I would go thru the insurance cuz you will need a rental while its fixed too. She is doing it this way to keep her insurnace from going up and if you let her do it that way she can stiff you on things. Plus she needs higher insurance just for leaving the scene, she only came back cuz she knew you got her plate so I would be an *** and notlet her off the hook. If she is let off the hook she will do it again.

Sorry to hear about that man. I hope everything gets worked out in the end...

:shakes head:I'm so sorry to hear about your ordeal. Did it happen after you left the meet at International plaza??? Post some pics of the damage, if you can. Hopefully nothing beneath the plastic cover was damaged, then its only the cover and some paint.. When I left the meet on Sat. I was on 275 when we noted a large black piece of metal or plastic in the middle lane. Some poor soul definitely hit it and you know thats gonna cost him...You gotta keep your eyes peeled out there..at least in your case someone else anted up and is paying to reverse the damage. Hope the best for you man...

My condolences, man. A similar thing happened to me a few months ago. I got everything fixed up just fine though. Take a deep breath, crap happens. Think positive, i.e., everything will work out for you as well.
|
That really blows man. Definitely let insurance handle everything, especially a rental car. Don't let them put u in a dinky lil Cobalt or anything either.
|
Don't forget your physical welll being too. If you have bruises from being bashed around, it might not present itself for a few days and then all of a sudden you've got back pains or neck pains. You can always get a new car, but your health is different. Take care and sorry to hear of the accident. Just remember, it could have been alot worse. Thankfully it was not.

I'm wondering if she even knew she hit you at the time of impact. These cars are so small that she might not even have known. If I backed into my Z with my Titan...I probably would never know until I actually saw the damage or pushed it a few feet up against a curb lol.
Either way, it sounds like she was apologetic and said she would pay..which is always a plus nowadays. |
Yah, I was inside the building at work when it happened. My car was park at my workplace parking lot. The driver was a visitor from the facility where I am working. According to my coworker she knew she hits my car, she even walked down and looked at my car if there's a damage but she said she didn't noticed it. It was dark outside when it happened. Oh well, she's 48 years old and look a little bit old.
I ended up going to my insurance and chose to pay the $500 deductable after evrything gets fix.Her insurance will going to reimburse my $500 back. I went to the shop and the estimated cost was $525. If there's a bent into the frame body of the bumper then its gonna be more than $500. Hopefully I'm getting my car back this week. Well, thank you guys for being there and great advices. It's so nice to have all of you here in this forum. |

it says HE got hit by a truck... wtf does that have to do with his car? :stirthepot:
|
Sorry man, I hope you get it back to 100 percent quick. Take it to a high quality shop and get it repaired. Hopefully they do a great job and you will be able to forget about the whole thing.
|
Wow,this is starting to sound like a bad sitcom...based on misunderstandings. Lets hope the best for Bradz. looking forward to seeing him at the next Tampa bay meet...:ugh2:
|
Should of bought a red one. She would have seen that color. Just kidding. Sorry to hear about the accident, and hope she's all done by the next meet. Make sure they detail the whole car. Good luck.

Sucks.. but seems like just a new bumper and you are good to go.. maybe take her up on her offer and have her buy you a bodykit lol.
edit: I fail for bumping a month old thread. |

If it were in reverse and the car actually moved a bit, it could have strained it a little bit but looking at your bumper it doesn't look like you got hit that hard. |
