2013 Civic Si Vs. 2009 370Z

I think MSBC will appreciate this...

I bought a 2013 Si. Here's why you shouldn't buy one and why our Z's matter in totally practical ways.

Civic Si: electronic steering like trying to control one of those RC boats in the ponds at amusement parks.
370Z: Steering like guiding a mouse through a maze (minus hard rights on half a tank)

Civic Si: LSD kicks on when it's 80F while in 6th gear at 70mph because it ran over a flat piece of road and realized it's a POS
370Z: like butter

Civic Si: takes bumps like a mule on meth
370Z: better than a Moostang

Civic Si: 3k RPM in 5th gear at 70mph and still no VTEC
370Z: WOT in 6th and at least attempts to move out of its own way

Civic Si: Clutch is so light that my left foot has hulk smashed through the wheel well
370Z: Buy the RJI clutch assembly.

Civic Si: power at 6k rpm, and tops our at 8k rpm. Cute range.
370Z: lulz

Civic Si: looks like an upside down bathtub
370Z: Like a french toaster

:rofl2::gtfo2::ugh2:

Ex-gf has a '13 Si. What a massive POS that car is. Albeit, if Ray Charles were to ever drive a Civic thats whatd Id equate to her driving process.

Opinions on older Volvo's sicne I see you own one? When my Si end this year, I was looking at 80k mileage 04-06 S60R's. Are they worth it? ll I ever hear is how they're built like tanks. Or maybe a C30 type R or whatever that 2 door hatch thing is called.

mishuko 01-05-2016 03:57 PM

the si tops out at 8krpm?

holy crap.

Sorry, I typo'd. It actually redlines at 7,100-7,200rpm. At least according to my gauge cluster for the 2013 model.

Whatever that thing that is suppose to make the rear end draw squiggly lines. Not cut power to the engine. Vtec?? I-vtec? Miev? Evo? Espn???

Our '13 S60 fuel pump grenaded two weeks into owning it, they fixed under warranty in 24 hours. Other than that its bullet proof so far, and my wife drives 100+ miles round trip daily for work. I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanted a C30 type R, couldnt talk my wife into a manual, or another coue though. Fun as hell to drive. Oh, on a side note, years 11-13 are the tanks IMO, '14, they feel...tinny. Even the engine feels less eager.

So basically a civic, but fun and without the teenage revving at stoplights. Perfect!! I'm really thinking a Volvo will be my next beater.

I don't know. I enjoyed my '09 while I had it. I mean, the Z trumps it in every category, but isn't it supposed to?

Sort of but no, it has electronically assisted hydraulic steering if i recall correctly, that or it's purely hydraulic...one of those two, but not fully electronic like the civics

Dirk McGurck 01-06-2016 06:12 AM

Civic SI is a perfect daily driver counterpart to a Z fun car. I'd have one in a heartbeat. And if I couldn't afford the Z, a Civic SI or TSX or TL would be my choice of sole car.

zefaulter 01-06-2016 06:23 AM

You shouldn't compare a civic with our Z, seriously.... It's like comparing your sexy miztress with your grandma (civic)

Only compared in the random aspects of every car on the road. Steering is better on a 2004 neon compared to the 13 Civics. Focus ST's take bumps better than the Civic. Hell, even the Z's bluetooth pairing takes only a few seconds upon startup compared to the Civic taking in excess of 45 seconds to connect. I'm not directly comparing the power/fun ratios of a RWD true sports car compared to a econobox. Just that a brand new econobox with "all the bells and whistles" still gets you less in most cases than a car from a decade ago. I mean, how does a fully loaded Civic Si NOT come with XM radio, but they include a backup camera......

Hold on. I'm trimming my hedges :ugh2:

kenchan 01-06-2016 01:06 PM

my pops had a honda lawnmower. thing was actually very good and reliable. i know cause i got to do the faking lawn every time. :shakes head:
my buddies at the RC track had a honda generator. very good stuff, quiet too.

i think the last gen civic (since new one's out) was just a pos in its entirety. i couldnt stand driving the LX the dealer gave me as a loaner. it was literally WORSE THAN A COROLLA!

I love my Honda lawnmower. It's going on close to a decade of work. Put Honda generator on Honda lawnmower and race the Si?

And I bet it still comes with XM radio!!!! I'd keep everything in the Nissan family. The seats aren't really comfy though. GF has a special edition note and they get rock hard after about a half hr.

kenchan 01-06-2016 02:25 PM

hummm... i can go over 200miles in my '12 fit non-stop and feel comfy.
