NO KEY light on

I noticed it yesterday and this morning, but my car started.
When i went for lunch it would not start up. I just replaced the battery so i know it is not that.
Any ideas?

edit: yes i did insert into FOB hole and still registering no key.
Having daughter bring other key to work. Hopefully it will work.

So the "no key" message is part of the steering lock failure.

My steering wheel is turning and not locked.
Btw i have a 2011, not that it wouldn't fail as well.

I just don't want to go hammer time on my car unless you guys are like 99% sure that is what it is.

when mine happened. first it was the no key light that turned on, i was able to still start my car. later that day the intelligent key light came on and i wasnt able to start my car. the steering wheel didnt lock up on me and i was able to put it on acc and on just wouldnt start. i towed it to the dealership they replaced the steering lock unit and started up perfect.

Well close this thread.

I took it out by removing the 2 bolts with break away heads.
Beat that bitch like it owed me more than just money.

Plugged it in and she fired up. I immediately cut the brown wire and she is starting like she should.

Sorry for starting yet another steering lock thread.

Thanks to all, even VABAM and onzedge for the proverbial bitch slap that made me look at steering wheel lock thread. If it were not for this website I would be out a lot of money.

I did say thanks to "ALL." Perhaps if you were a bit quicker and had a wittier response I would have mentioned you by name as well.
Don't feel left out though, you are still included in the "ALL" of my initial thanks.
