Any suggestion for the 370Z tires?
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...556c812a73.jpg
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ac6b0107cc.jpg It's time to get new tires for my 370Z 2010 Sport. I've used a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sport (front/rear) two times without any claim. Now I'm hesitating to choose between the Michelin PSS again or Hankook Ventus V12 EVO2. Usually I enjoy my driving on local and freeway (no track) - not so fast. Any suggestion..?? * I searched the Hankook V12 EVO2 on this forum, but failed to find out any proper articles. :D Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk |
I haven't experience the Hankook on the 370z, but I've heard pretty good things about that specific tire. It's certainly a good performance value. Hard to tell if you'll notice a huge performance difference by going with it as opposed to the PSS.

If you're not going to do any spirited driving like canyon carving or track?
Hankook tires are your choice. I had Hankook tires once, and the first time I hit the canyons I found out why they were so popular? They're cheap. :ugh2: |
|
almost as bad as oil threads =P
almost. but we all know the best oil is extra virgin olive oil. also consider the re-11's... around same range as the PSS. |
I bought mine with the Hankooks on them. They're okay. Not the best. I personally wouldn't get them again.
|
Michelin PSS are really good. Loved the grip.

Have you checked other sizes? You can put 285, 295, or even 305 on the rear sport rims.
Go down to a 30 profile if you go with the 295 or 305 sizes. This will keep the overall tire diameter closer to stock, which will keep your speedometer more accurate. Don't get the Hankooks. You get what you pay for :ugh: |

All seasons don't belong on a sports car IMO, but many people do it. Hope they work out for you.

OP: Don't ever do this. I'm just messing with JAR. |
No comparison between the two. If you just cruise to work and back the V12s will be fine, any spirited driving though and you will quickly regret getting them.

Hankooks are decent..especially for the price. But they do seem like they wear quickly.
I put some new Goodyear Eagle GT (somthing?) tires on my 350z when I had it. Those tires were great...good price, great handling in most conditions. I think they are an all-season tire. |
First set of tires for me were Hankook Ventus Evo2s, now I'm on Potenzas in the back. I like the Potenzas more.

I drove my GTi from Alabama to D.C. to see family. About halfway though Virginia we got some rain and I realized I needed tires ASAP. We made it to PA and I decided to get the S04. I started to strongly dislike the GTi before the S04 b/c I felt like it just didn't have the mojo that it used to and that I'd grown accustomed to with a hot hatch. That tire made me fall in love with the car again, I kept it another year. It gave me everything I wanted from a tire and none of the stuff I hated about tires. Great ride. Great price. Great dry traction and wet traction. I probably drive more mildly on the street than some of you guys, but I feel like i'd run out of road and skill before I ran out of tire on the street with the S-04.
|
I need to get tires soon too. Why change sizes and not stay stock? Is it for looks? Performance? I'm thinking the s04's so should I stay with stock or change sizes?

I had S-04 PPs on my Mazdaspeed6. Actually made that piggy wrong-wheel-drive car hug corners.

General G-Max AS-03
Just purchased my 2009 Touring/Sport 6MT
Rear Tires have the General G-Max 275/35 ZR-98W Measured 8/32" Wear so decent shape. General Tire rates this Tire pretty good on noise and wear and general all season. Question is the front have Hankooks EVO 12 Ventus and there at 50% Dilemma....:rofl2: Gone to Run the Z just in the summer months no winter or rain so doing research on what most other members are running without speeding stupid money!! lol Cheers! |

But if I were you, I would replace all four of those garbage tires asap :twocents: Get some Bridgestone S-04's for performance without breaking the bank :driving: |
yah, wtf are people putting shittty tires on their sports cars? :shakes head:
remove them IMMEDIATELY! better driving on rims.. lol |

I drove them through two PA winters. They're okay in cold temps as long as you drive conservatively on them, because they do kinda turn into plastic shopping cart wheels. So no slaloms. Now, I don't make a habit of driving my car in the snow, but I did once get caught in a snow drift (didn't see it over a hill). If there is one flake of snow on the ground, these tires are worthless and you'll be in a ditch. I got a sink-or-swim lesson in drifting as a bus came the other direction...😳 Since I DD my car, I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 this time around. They're okay. Probably as good as you could expect from an A/S tire. It just starting getting really cold here and the grip in cold is better, for sure. Summer traction of course isn't as good. I did run them on a track day, actually, and while the ultimate grip limits aren't as high, they really held their own. If I could dedicate my car to warm weather/track only, I'd seriously consider buying the SO4s again. |
Im a Michelin man but the SO4s are sounding mighty good for the price

Thanks !! |
I've been running the V12's since I had to replace the stock tires, if you just want a good tire for DD, no track days, some fun on the curves they are fine. If you want some serious stick spend some money. I run through a set of tires every 6 months, so big dollars on tires for me was pointless.
|
Bridgestone RE11's for me year around. I have over 10K miles on the tires and the wear is just as good as the SO-4's.
