I had SO4s as my last set and I really liked them. Dry traction was great, wet traction was very good too. Even when they definitely needed to be replaced, the dry grip was still impressive.

I drove them through two PA winters. They're okay in cold temps as long as you drive conservatively on them, because they do kinda turn into plastic shopping cart wheels. So no slaloms. Now, I don't make a habit of driving my car in the snow, but I did once get caught in a snow drift (didn't see it over a hill). If there is one flake of snow on the ground, these tires are worthless and you'll be in a ditch. I got a sink-or-swim lesson in drifting as a bus came the other direction...😳

Since I DD my car, I went with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 this time around. They're okay. Probably as good as you could expect from an A/S tire. It just starting getting really cold here and the grip in cold is better, for sure. Summer traction of course isn't as good. I did run them on a track day, actually, and while the ultimate grip limits aren't as high, they really held their own. If I could dedicate my car to warm weather/track only, I'd seriously consider buying the SO4s again.

Ya, at least in Southern California we can easily get away with summer tires all the time.

This. Absolutely worthless in snow and not so great even in cold temps. That's why I have a winter beater. The Z isn't a very good year-round car north of the Carolinas or so (IMO).

I've been running the V12's since I had to replace the stock tires, if you just want a good tire for DD, no track days, some fun on the curves they are fine. If you want some serious stick spend some money. I run through a set of tires every 6 months, so big dollars on tires for me was pointless.

Bridgestone RE11's for me year around. I have over 10K miles on the tires and the wear is just as good as the SO-4's.

I daily my Z because I can't afford a winter beater. $1000 bought me stock 18s and Michelin winter/snow tires. I've never gotten stuck, even with what happened last year...except when over 6" of snow of course.

Hey 90 ST !
I've been following your post! 300,000 Km and still ticking so your advice on tires is surely appreciated!!
I'm on the fence with you about the V 12 's good tire value , No tracking for me and probably just put a few Km a year on them, (Driveway full of cars!)
Kinda worries me......Set of tires every 6 Months ! That's some serious driving
dude. We have some awesome driving back roads out here on the coast on Vancouver Island
Thanks for your input!

Where the hell'd ya find that deal?! Find it again and let me know! Can you fit the base 18s over the sport brakes?
