I got a 2019 sport coupe 6MT with the synchro rev match. It is an interesting feature and was fun to play with a little at first but now I just leave it off. The engine seems a little more responsive when I have it disabled and that's how I like it. I've done heel-toe rev matching for long enough that I can usually do it pretty well without thinking much about it.

If you have it on a new car then I think it's a good thing to use while the drivetrain is breaking in, as it minimizes driveline shock while downshifting.

I absolutely love the feature. I leave mine on 24/7...It's kinda funny because I've had my car for 13 months now and the other day I was feeling all special because of how smooth I've gotten with shifting (this was my first manual car) and I was thinking to myself "ya know, I would say I'm pretty damn good at driving a manual transmission car now".

Well then I turned off the SRM and came to the conclusion that I still don't really know how to drive a manual transmission car...like wow..as a novice manual driver you really don't realize how much SRM is doing for you until you go back to real manual mode. Really the thing I missed most without it was how SRM would hold the RPMs there for you on upshifts whereas without it the RPMs just keep dropping until you release the clutch and add a little gas. It didn't help at all that the timing I used to attain a smooth shift with SRM on did not even come close to attaining a smooth shift with it off.

I guess the moral of the story is: SRM is an amazing feature, so much so that it led me to believe that I was a better driver than I really am. But if you rely on it too much, it will actually make you a worse driver!

Since everyone here is bagging on the base models, I'll do a little bagging of my own. If you truly know how to drive a stick and drive it well, you don't need this feature.

Flame on.

I'll say this about my base model. I paid cash for it and have never made a payment on it.

Most people who get the sports package don’t get it for the SRM feature alone and it just so happens to be included in the package. If the SRM was an a la carte item, I would probably still get it just to have it. I myself opted for the SP for the rear wing (the car without it looks weird IMO).

I personally don’t rip on people that got the base model, as I’m sure they have their reasons for it.

While I applaud you for paying cash for your car, this also means it’s one less major item being reported on your credit report.

Also let's not forget that the brakes on the base model are trash. Other than that, it's a fine car.

I still love the SRM despite already driving a manual for 13 years. If u can get a good deal on the sports package, would always get it. Also resale value is higher

Eh, y not ill shime in, so i bought my 2010 and sinse then, i have actually used it maybe 2 times, i showed it to ppl maybe 20 times, thats it, i never used it again.

If you have read that, it might leave you puzzled why i would NOT use the S-Mode syncro-rev. When i bought the car it was known that this the only car in the world with this feature, not to be burned by my friends that i use the feature rather than to use a heal toe technique to be in advance of some sort,i have decided to learn how to use the heal toe technique, sinse i learned it its actually easier and more fun to do it on my own. There Syncro-rev match is NOT all that imho.

I'm an old guy with an 800+ score. No need for more crap on my credit report. Have been working in the credit industry for over 25 years.

Yes, there are other good options with the sport model, but boy does the price jump.

Not my experience, but I don't track my car either. Define "Trash".

The beauty of the Z's SRM, is that you can turn it off with the touch of a button. On the M2, the only way you can turn it off (without after market coding) is to put it on the sports plus mode and have all the safety nannies turned off. Not something I prefer doing on my favorite mountain road here.
