It's funny how here everyone praises the low sales numbers. Over on the Mustang/Camaro/Challenger forums there is a monthly battle over which of the 3 muscle cars sells the most. My view is if it makes you happy, then it's cool.

I guess you could look at it from either side. Everyone wanting it and everyone wanting it AND having are two different things, IMO. Many of the cars that are sought after across the world, are not seen on every couple of miles. That is a funny point you had mentioned . Maybe it is their way of coping?? . The only major benefit I see that comes from a vehicle being mass-produced is it (generally) creates a lower price point, and allows a broader range of consumers. |

Yeah it does help lower the price point. All of those base versions help subsidize the V8s that everyone wants.

Well, I have a Dodge Magnum SRT8 in Steel Blue, very rare, 1 of only 118 made in 2007 and then production was ended in 2008. I love the car even after 8 years of ownership, but at times I hate to bring it out because of the other monstrosities with BS candy paint, 30" rims and just total destruction of a great looking sports wagon IMO. Granted, these are all base model V6's, but to non car guy, it's just a Magnum with a better spoiler and wheels I would assume. I personally don't like to see a lot of the cars I own on the street which is the reason I only buy the High Performance version of every car I choose, M's, AMG's, SRT's, R's, Nismo's ect. Maybe it's just me, but I like being exclusive, LOL.

I loved that I rarely saw another 370z, let alone another NISMO, when I owned my Z's. However I've gotten far more comments, questions, stares, thumbs up, etc in my Vette than I ever did in either of my 370z's. I'm not sure why it's that way given the Z is far more rare. Then again when I pull my 280z out it's nothing but attention left, right, center. My 300zx gets no love.

Exclusivity? My Z is gun metallic and was built in a machine factory in Tochigi.
Was your Z hot pink & built by the son of Mr. K or something?

Since Halloween just passed I am "reviving" this thread. I am in the same predicament as the OP. I am not sure if he traded his Z in or not. I have a 2013 370z touring model roadster with sports package. I have 20500 miles on it and am itching to sell and buy a vette. I have found a 2007 Base Vette with 9300 miles and Z51 package. Should I pull the trigger. I woud have to pay around 3000 dollars for this deal does not include tax I would have to pay also. I can't give a good reason for wanting to change cars just that I have had the Z for quite some time and having a coupe vette with removal hard top appeals to me and I have always wanted a Corvette.

The reason why I’m on this forum, is because I’ve owned a number of other sports cars, currently an M2, but the Z for driver enjoyment is up there with all of them. Back in the day, I owned a 72 Vette and sold it for a 76 280Z, in I believe the year of 1980. It would have been nice to own both, but that wasn’t reality. I sold the Z about 6 years later. Got married, and was going to have kids, so there went the Z. About 16 years later got into a G35C. Point being, life goes in all different directions. So a 2 seat sports car is probably not a life long decision. If you love cars, enjoy as many as you can (affordability speaking wise). Because you never know when these wonderful ICE dinosaurs will end. |

Hey thank you for the reply, I have decided to part ways with the Z. I have a buyer coming up today to put a deposit down. Crazy thing is I paid 22,000 for this car just about 2 and a half years ago it had 13000 miles I am selling it for 25000 dollars and put about 7500 miles on the car. Crazy times.

The Corvette is such a competitive package in the consumer market.
Kinda kicking myself when used C7's dipped for like 2 seconds. Supposedly better ground clearance, hatch space, fuel economy on the highway, faster if not probably more reliable than a boosted Z build, just all around better equipment from suspension to cooling, and yes to the targa top. That's not to put down the Z, as evidently I stuck with mine and continue to invest into it. These are in two different price brackets altogether, but yeah, if you pay up you'll get your worthwhile. |
