Adding oil to new Z?

I bought a new Z in September and it has 2600 miles on it. I had to add a half quart of oil today. Oil level was almost at bottom

I had to add a half quart of oil today. Oil level was almost at bottom indicator hole on dipstick. It was in the middle the last time I checked a couple weeks ago. Is this normal for a new engine? Thanks for your help.
