NISMO 370 and rain

I live in Portland where it rains nearly daily this time of year. I have had the VDC turned off and haven't had any problems with the rear getting loose. I got on it a couple times, not in traffic, just to get a feel for the car on the wet roads and will say this, it doesn't take much for the rear end to begin to come around. Just take it easy on the wet roads, especially when not going in a strait line. It might be a good idea to practice on a large paved area just to get a feel for the car in case you have to take corrective action on the streets. Good luck and enjoy Nismo!

I simply responded to someone asking a question. I myself grew up in Northern Wisconsin (28 years) so I know how to drive in slippery conditions. I don't feel that someone asking about how a car handles in wet conditions is out of line. I just thought I would offer some insight just as others on this forum have answered some of my questions. I don't think any of us are in a position to judge anyones experience. We should welcome all questions and respect the fact that someone asked for help rather than find themselves in a position that causes damage or harm to another.

I too would like to know if the Nismo drives crazy in the rain. I mean, 18 hp has gotta make the highway a virtual slip-n-slide compared to the base Z.

Aha, just reduce your speed, for obvious reasons. Hydroplaning is always a possibility, even with the "best" tires (opinions vary on that). Good luck, and congrats'!

Chillax buddy. The icon was pointing at my included quote from RCZ. None of that was directed at your reply to his question. But his initial post implied that he's considering NOT buying the Z as a daily driver because it could be unpredictable in rain. That's just silly.

yeah not saying i drive like an idiot but i can bust through a puddle and i can feel the VDC take control you will be fine unless you drift on the highway haha

i typically just keep it in reverse when its raining. my work isn't happy with how that usually turns out.

even w/ vdc on the car can SLIDE a LOT in the rain w/ the sport tires+ -- just be safe you will be fine

I disagree, the car is very stable in the rain if you drive properly. I've taken 2 FTD's (fastest raw time of day) at auto-x in the Z. Just don't try to mash the gas pedal mid-corner with the VDC turned off. With VDC turned on you really can't get into trouble other than driving too fast.
