No need to do both - either one will do the job. I prefer to pull the fuse but YMMV.

I can't get it started at all and I beat the **** out of the thing lol. So Looks like a DIY tear apart and engage the blue buttons Assuming it's not covered.

IIRC, all 2009s are covered under the TSB but not all 2010s are covered. In any case, dealer will check VIN to see if you qualify.

Hope it's covered....Honestly At this pointI truly Hope it IS the Lock failure... Cause beyond that i'm at a major loss.

Ommateal 12-17-2015 06:21 PM

Called Dealer, Gave them the VIN... Not listed as covered.

Called Nissan Usa Consumer affairs, claim was escalated to Regional...whatever. He said they have had good luck in getting those claims pushed through... Fingers crossed.

****UPDATE**** and not a very happy one.

CONFIRMED STEERING LOCK FAILURE by Nissan dealer technician. 2010 revision C - Ill post the specifics in the sticky later.

ANNNDDDDD - Nissan said they dont want to do **** about it -_______-

Now being escalated to the division manager or some ****... Told them I dont care if they escalate it to fukin Obama, someone needs to fix this.

MagmaRed370z 12-28-2015 11:31 AM

How come some of our cars are NOT covered under the steering lock failure and some ARE covered?

What determines which ones are covered and which ones are not?

fairlady_z34 12-28-2015 11:37 AM

That sucks to hear that. Just got my steering wheel
Lock done and it was covered still cost me 60 bucks to tow it there but it was worth it.

I haven't seen anything official but it seems that only RevA and RevB ESCLs are covered by the TSB. RevC and above are not covered.

That's crap! Did they fix it with models 2013 and above? Or do the 2013 2014 have the same issue?

After I think 2012 models they used something else completely.

And they better fix it cause this is horse poo, I heard they have made "Exceptions" for ones not covered, if that's true or not I don't know..

It's insane for sure tho. It was escalated to the Regional Managers - Manager. Whatever...

139$ Tow.... and they want another 89$ for the diagnostic. I Only took it to the shop because they told me I HAD TO before they would make a decision to fix it or not. After talking in here I was 99% Positive it WAS the Lock...

Jimbo370 12-28-2015 01:46 PM

On the tow cost I have state farm and they reimbursed me for the tow. It was like an extra $10 on coverage for 6 months. This might help ease the pain.
Sorry to hear about the problem still existing. you would think the lock problem would end soon 7yrs later. God bless

Well, If you haven't already tried? Beat on it till it releases and pull the fuse.

At this you have nothing to lose since its broke already.

Ive tried a ton of times, it's like super dead/stuck - I think my only option is to cut it open and manually make it make the connection.

Ommateal 12-29-2015 04:21 PM

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOTh3PqYh20 News report about Nissans Bad ESCL lolololol

So...do I have any other options? Is it worth trying to fight more? Should I say F it, get it home and rip the thing open?
