Nissan Commercials on TV
Since the holiday season is officially upon us, the car manufactures are in full swing with their Christmas and end of the year blowout sales.
Of course Nissan is no exception, but I have noticed in every one of their commercials they never show a 370z. In fact I do not recall ever seeing a 370z in any commercial of Nissan. I get the fact that they will push their best selling vehicles but how can they leave out something as sexy as the Z? Nissan could of put one on the screen for some sex appeal and quick eye catcher. |

If I were running a business I wouldn't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on an add on a car that only sells a few hundred a month. Even if that ad doubled sales you'd never make your money back. There have been a few 370z ads from time to time you can see them on youtube but really even with this warm winter not many are going to buy a RWD sports car in the middle of winter.

I guess they don't think the Z image fits with the blander cars they are trying to sell.
However a 370Z convertible pops up briefly im some versions of the new HUM campaign, described as either "a car for just us" or "a car for the road" |

I understand the business end why they don't but they have been pushing the Maxima as a "sports" car lately which it's not IMO. I think Nissan has the money to have our cars at least make a cameo.

come on now... they sell 4 door compact sedans as 'sports luxury' cars.
they sell the mazda 2 as 'zippy' they were advertising the smart car vs range of high powered cars and then said downtown it's the first 5m that count. they're pushing the mustang 4bangers as the new rad thing. would this make it a hot hatch now? lol long story short, this industry has lost sight of the segments and blended everything into one. |

You don't see any GTR commercials either. Like you said they concentrate on the bread & butter cars as it's a hard sell to sell a Z to a family of 4+ if they don't have other vehicles that fit the need first.
Anyway, I think we all bought one without a commercial so the business methodology seems to be working. Some things seem to sell themselves This is my favorite Z commercial though going back a few years

thank you, I've been thinking of writing a similar post. I agree that the reasoning is low volume, bla, bla, but what get's me even more is showing the 'sporty' Altima and all the others in sports car red. I know it's not the correct color name but dam it! sports cars are meant to be red! before my z I had 2 porsches, a bmw, a supra turbo and they were all bright red! I looked so hard for a red z and couldn't find one. at least one that wasn't beat, too old or located 500 miles away. if they re going to show all these red nissans zipping around at least show a gd z! most Ferraris, many porsches and bimmers are red. having so few red z's just makes me think Nissan's marketing department should all be fired!

Yeah, I have also noticed that Nissan does not promote these cars like it should.
At the end of all of their CMs, they always have a group shot of all of their cars. They could always put the Z in there as well. |

I'm trying to think if I've ever seen a Corvette ad campaign. Don't think so. Nor do is ever see ads for any of the performance Porsches. But I do admit...I don't watch much commercial TV.
I'm sure we're all hurt that the vehicle we drive doesn't get the popular love. Painful, like when our favorite college football team doesn't make Sports Illustrated's Top 20. But I can't imagine a competent corporation spending marketing money on a niche specialty vehicle with very, very limited market appeal. If Nissan wanted to sell more Z's there are many ways that they could do that, but at the end of the day, that type of car is just not going to ever be a big seller.
