Paint Defect - Mist/Fog
hey everyone. i just went to see my car today after being involved in a hit and run. the repair work looks excellent, but i noticed some mist/fog effect on the paintwork. my car is the platinum graphite color and i know it's not the easiest color to spray. it's not easily noticeable but noticeable to me.
i feel bad because the shop has been absolutely great to me, keeping me updated, very nice people. but i dont want to regret not saying anything. i dont want to come off as a **** either, but whats the nicest way to ask for a respray? |

Have you asked what/why is this fog/mist?

not yet because i got there 10 minutes before they closed shop so i was in a hurry. looked it over quickly and im pretty sure it's the base coats that have that fog effect. like you can see some of the sprays. it's very subtle (im probably making it sound like you can see it a mile away). but im a perfectionist - i'll check it out again tomorrow before i pick it up. the adjuster should be there as well so im sure they'll notice it.

I guess that's the best way to play it. The front bumper is perfect! I only notice it on the hood and fenders but the color match is exact. Damn, I miss my baby.
They're pros, they only work infinitis, have many certs, good equipment, great people. I was shocked, but people make mistakes. Hopefully it's not a big deal. Last edited by Jason; 11-04-2009 at 08:41 PM. |

Could be overspray too. Either way, I'd take it to them, speak to their manager and have that person reassure me that it will be corrected.
If I don't trust them, then I ask for them to put something in writing. |

You want to be happy when you sign off on the repair work. The shop also wants you to be happy. The best solution is when you both walk away pleased with the work.
A shop painted one of my cars for me 3 times. I was very explicit with my expectations and they assured me that they understood the level of work I wanted. When I took the car out of their shop I was happy with the work. Never returned to that shop again.
