Need Your Z Opinion

I would like to purchase a Midnight Blue Roadster - current Z owners:

Should I be worried about the 65k mileage?

What things should I have checked before buying?

The ONLY thing (I haven't seen it in person yet) that worries me about this car is the mileage.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

You know, it's all about maintenance. :D

If the car was taken care of, 65K is not a big deal. You're best bet is to take the car to another mechanic and have them check it out.

Ask for service (did prev owner change the oil?) and CarFax* (has it been in a wreck?) reports.

*Not always 100% accurate but still something to consider.

roadsters are notorious for their roof problems. i suggest you get a hard top used, or get a new canvas top.

Are there aftermarket hard tops available like the ones for s2k and miatas yet? Some vendor should look into it.

It seems like a lot of mileage for a 2013 model IMO. Did you check KBB?

:iagree: with all the folding arm or watever they're called problems, easier just to have a removable top.

also to put into perspective the coupes are generally cheaper than their roadster counterpart. do you has to have the convertible?

kenchan 11-10-2015 03:29 PM

he must be a good looking guy or something, huh?

There is definitely a market for it. My roommate replaced the top on his 350ZR 3 times since he's owned the car, and they only lasted a little over a year each time. His current top is wearing ducktape again at one of the corner so it's going to be his 4th any time soon :ugh2:

My girlfriend has an '06 Miata, drives it year round in Chicago, and has had no problems with the soft top. The car is garaged though. Fantastic car, she's had virtually no problems. Even the original battery lasted 8 years. I envy the Miata's clutch and gearbox...so nice compared to ours. I love my Z, but I could have saved a few bucks and got a car, that in a way, is more fun to drive. It is more tossable and not as brutish. It does feel kind of cheap in comparison to the Z and I just don't like soft tops.
