Idk why but the two "2" bother me. I agree with your points though. Especially #2

Hey everyone,

Quick update:

Didn't call insurance. It looks like the front tire isn't punctured but kind of came off the rim a little. Went to a really friendly mechanic, had the car towed to him for $140 (with "Dollies/Trollies?").

He said he is going to check the entire car and give me a list of things that need to be repaired.

Best case scenario he said he would fix the rims and repaint them black. Install a new fender and the bottom part. Fix my "alignment".

He said there might be a chance my suspension is screwed up since the steering wheel is titled.

Hopefully everything goes well... never ever in my life am I touching that traction control button again.

Thanks for all the help. Will update again with what needs to be fixed and how much he is charing.... maybe I can find parts here for cheaper.

smart decisions to get it towed to the shop.

another option is look up the item numbers and order them through a nissan dealership if you're sticking with OEM.

hopefully you've learned not to underestimate 332 ponies.

I think he learned his lesson. Thank the Lord no one, including the driver, was injured. If he doesn't tell the insurance mafia the whole truth, big deal. They rape and pillage us daily. But let's not be hypocrites. I am sure we have all done something stupid once or twice in our lives. No reason to crucify him. He destroyed his car. Lesson learned.

I know in California since I sell and service insurance for State farm Insurance that State Farm themselves does not rate an accident if its under 1k. Do not know how that is in Canada though since I didn't study for any of their rules and regulations. (In the US each state has own rules, regulations and laws for Auto Insurance, and Insurance in general)

Its usually is stated on how rating an accident is implicated in the policy booklet or what we call the policy language. It is usually the fine print booklet that everyone throws to the side.

As for the OP and going through insurance for this claim; if you have money fix it yourself because accidents and tickets actually shoot your premiums for 6 years. IN California when you get a ticket or accident it affects you for 6 years. After 3 years is when you earn the California Good Driver Discount back and then that's where most of the premium increase comes from, which is losing that Good Driver Discount (whatever it is in Canada) usually that discount can range anywhere from 17%-25% of the 6 month premium. Big discount to lose.

Don't screw around with the Z like that anymore. Big learning lesson You should never have the VDC off for any reason unless you know how to use it AND you are on a track/closed course.
This is all coming from a 21 year old of whom bought his Z when he was still 20 and have had it for 7 months and haven't gotten into any trouble with it AT ALL.

The worst that has happened to me is that one night when I had parked my Z on the street I think someone rolled or backed into my front bumper because the paint is cracked under the first and second layers. Of course since you cannot see it unless you are looking at a certain angle and is not chipping currently so I am waiting until I either get a new front bumper and have it painted or get some sort of body kit piece that requires painting.

Having a sports car like this isn't all fun and games whatsoever. Honestly the best part about having this car is the fact that I have so many other people that stare me down and look at me and (to quote katt Williams) "their facial expression looks like they just caught the stomach virus. Like everything about you just fu*k with them" and that is their job as a hater is to hate on you and all you do in that situation is look at them and laugh out loud because you can.

I've even had a person/ couple of people in the same car stare me down and mackin', talk crap at the light to me, take off when the light turns green and I drive off normally.
At the next light while next to each other he's like you got nothing, and I had a simple yet direct answer for him. "So in order to have something with my car or in life, I have to race you like an immature and irresponsible adult?" and they all stared at me and then I followed up with "With my Z I don't have to go around racing people to express the dominance and the aggression that the Z comes with.
The car is not a toy, it has a lot of power behind those two back wheels. Even stock.

Dang, that sucks, yeah what everyone else said +1. Considering I have the same car and more than likely you're from the GTA please fix it yourself , my insurance is high enough as is.

Really? That's the lesson you learned?

In any event, I'm glad you have a plan for getting the Z repaired and hope it's a reasonable expense.

You have more confidence than I do, but I hope you're right.

I've done a lot of stupid stuff in cars, but the only comparable one that comes to mind is when I was 15 years old and acting like a moron on deserted streets in my hometown after a rare snowfall. Like the OP, I slammed into a curb, but my '55 Chevy was tougher than a Z. A couple of "new" wheels from a junkyard and I was back in business. But my solution was not simply never touching the clutch pedal again.

I'd recommend against "learning" even in a parking lot. Look around for local car control clinics or basic drifting events. There will be other like minded individuals there who have made all the mistakes for you already and can teach you the right way to learn how to control your car. Most people start with controlled donuts. You'll learn exponentially faster with someone who knows what they're doing in the passenger seat.

Imagine if you put all the money you're about to throw into repairing your car toward learning how to drift with experienced hooners instead. You'd be a pro.

Practicing poor technique in the parking lot likely isn't doing you a whole lot of good. There's no substitute for a good instructor and a proper track

Car is still at the mechanic, have yet to hear from him.

I'm going to be honest I've had the car for 3 months and I've treated it with alot of respect. Just one time I remember it was raining and I was making a turn and my back end slightly slided, and I curiously was trying to do the same last night, thinking if I turn off the traction control I'll have more of the glide... It all happened so quick in litteraly one second the car just went flying...

Having the shittiest day just hoping everything is cosmetic and nothing seriously got damaged...

Very disappointed in myself... worked really hard to get this car. Luckily I'm not in school at the moment working 60 hours a week so if the repair is 2-4k I can pay it off in less than a month.

Thanks for all of the advice guys
