Default Advice: from g37s to NISMO?

Hi- first post.

Have 08 g37s and I like the car. It's best features are acceleration and steering feel. It's worst features are handling especially at an autox or track. I know it wasn't designed for those.

So I am thinking of moving to the NISMO 370z for two reasons: Looks and track ready. I am not into luxury or status.

Any1 do this or have comments?

thx

Get a base+sport and put the extra money into mods. You'll end up with a car that'll outperform the Nismo. The regular 370z already performs better than the Nismo, according to all the magazines, so you see where that's going.

get the Nismo for the sake of owning a true Nismo, if the name Nismo doesnt matter to you... get base + sports and maybe touring for comforts like in the G

im with the other two. the name "NISMO", to me, is just a hype which costs extra money. I'd much rather buy a base+sport and put 8k of mods on it, than to just have a stock NISMO.

to some, it means a lot and they would pay much more just to have the name. Only you can decide.

Huge lap time difference there...*snicker* *snort*

OP - if having the word NISMO plastered all over your car means everything to you, and you absolutely MUST HAVE it, go for it. Otherwise, get a base+sport, like others have said. You'll save money in the end if you intend to mod it at all.

Agreed. The NISMO look is nice, but the gains for 8 grand extra are minimal. A Base+Sport and 8k in suspension and engine upgrades will shut down most at the track in its class.

Being a Nismo owner, it hurts to read threads like these.

I guess the real question is, can you notice the price difference in the base+sports vs the Nismo? If you can, get the Nismo. If you can't, don't.

But all these people saying that you pay 8k more (which is the difference between INVOICE of base/sports and STICKER for Nismo, btw...) for the word "nismo" to be stamped all around your car are sadly misinformed about the differences and the value of those differences.

I agree...

Besides I bought the car to drive and go not to go to the track and my time is to valuable to spend it moding.

base+sports package would be the way to go for track...

you say you dont need the comfort aspect of it so i dont recommend touring package, although i have and am glad i chose it...

throw some coilovers, oil cooler, exhaust and intakes on and taker to the tracks..

or get the nismo and youll still need the oil cooler atleast...then exhaust and intakes too...

There's several options available to you. Just evaluate what you really want before purchasing. It's all personal preference in the end.

I dont think anyone is saying anything bad about the nismo, I happen to like it quite a bit, but I think when value comes to mind, price-wise, the base/sport is a better option. But I agree, if you have the money, why not. But if you plan to mod and track it, the choice is yours..

To post the article where Matt's avatar came from:
IL Track Tested: 2009 Nissan Nismo 370Z vs. 2009 Nissan 370Z Touring

PS- Their 370Z Touring is also sport.

Comes down to this: if you want a car that has some improvements and will be slightly better for resale than a base + sport = get the nismo... If you plan on tracking the car - and plan on doing a lot of mods (read: intake / wheels / exhaust / headers / anything)... get the Base... unless you want the exclusiveness of the nismo in which case get that and still do mods on top of it...

If it were me... I would get a base + sport .. get new seats ... get new wheels... get sways... and intake / exhaust / headers / tune and call it a day... you will probably have to get an oil and diff cooler either way

I believe they released a second article with the conclusion that the Nismo tested a fair bit better after being "broken in".

Regardless, the Nismo's price tag includes a lot more than 18 more hp and a CBE, and that's what a lot of people aren't understanding. That's like me saying the Touring package is 4k more for just the leather seats...it's simply misleading.

In fact, I would have gotten the Touring + Sports if my dealer had one on the lot, just to make it known my intentions aren't to put the Nismo on a pedestal.
