Quick "specific" oil question.
Hey guys,
Sorry for probably the 10,000th oil posting but i had a quick but specific question. I have a 2012 with FI CBE, Stillen CAI and the EcuTek tune. No oil cooler. For those with the same set up, what typical oil temps do you see on the track? Yes i know an oil cooler is recommended/mandatory and I know many people will say you'll hit limp mode..lol trust me i've browsed the oil threads. I did see 1 guy hit a consistent 260 at willowsprings. Maybe others see the same and perhaps the "stock oil cooler" cools just enough of a casual track day guy like me, using your last lap as a cool down lap. Thanks, Ben |
Oil cooler is a must for the track
|
I have a 25 row Z1-Motorsports oil cooler kit... I get oil = 250 F at the track.
Get it, or don't track it. |
Well this is my second Z. i had a stock 09 i took to the track and my temps never got above 265. maybe i don't go as hard on the track as some of you guys. i do 2:12 - 2:10 at autoclub speedway.
Not sure how much more the engine is prone to heat after these 3 mild upgrades. probably relatively the same but who knows. |
Oil temps will be lower after a tune.

Thanks for your info! |
I run similar mods with the exception of my R2C intakes. Temps are a bit lower with EcuTek since the tune has my fan come on at a lower temperature. It's nothing significant once you start pushing the car, like on a track.
I've seen daily oil temps at 220-240F on the gauge for years now. On the street. On the track, I hit 280F in less than two laps (~4 min) :twocents: |

(My 2012 is my second Z) just to clarify why i would be referring to a different Z. |

This was also June in Texas. It was probably close to 100F temps that day, so the track would have been even hotter. |
