Red face Newbie with a Question (Surprise)

hi, fellow zenthusiasts! just bought my first z, a silver 370 base with the 6mt. traded a 2004 bmw 330cic and i don't miss it a bit. in fact, i bought the z because it was the first car that drove better than both bimmers that i have owned. i know i'm breaking the first post rule - i'll post pics soon.

on to my question. there was a black part in a plastic bag in my trunk when i took delivery and i'm not sure what it is. looks to be a two-piece chin but i'm not certain. part # embossed on it is as follows: 62823 1ea0a. before i get flamed, i did a search but came up empty.

while i'm asking for help, i'll also offer a little detailing tip that i used today. after drying the z, she continues to drip from the side mirrors, headlights, tail lights, z side marker, etc. to prevent this and keep myself from repeatedly going over these areas with a chamois, i use my shop vac to suck the water out of the cracks using the crevice tool. being careful not to touch the paint, it works like a charm.

anyway, sorry for the long first post. great site, i'll be here often.
.

Are the two pieces rubber(ish)?
I believe they go in front of the two front wheels, thought they were added on when the car hit port, but maybe not.

just use an electric leaf blower to dry the car, that way you are minimising the "touch" factor and hence minimising swirls.

Yeah, my front license plate mount was in a bag in the back . . . and I plan on leaving it there :-)

yes, they are hard rubber. i think you are correct that they are chins that go in front of the wheels. i just couldn't find the corresponding holes to mount them on. i'll need to get the car up on jacks and get a good look.

I had a pair of those in my trunk as well "Guide ASSY-Air, FR" writen on the wrapper. Have no clue where the go either, they do appear to be exterior parts.

yep, that's what i'm talking about. same "Guide ASSY-Air, FR" on mine as well. you'll notice that the parts are labeled L & R, presumably for left and right.

According to Courtesy Nissan's parts webpage, Part# 62823U is "Guide Air Front -LH. The site is located here: GUIDE-AIR,FRONT LH - 370Z (Z34) 2009+ :: Nissan Parts, NISMO and Nissan Accessories - Courtesyparts.com

The photo below from the site shows where the part goes which is at the base of the front fender. You may want to check and make sure your part is in there and if it is then you have a free extra part. Otherwise its about 16 bucks.
