cruise light?

going to work today in the rain and I never use the cruise. I look above the speedo and the green cruise words were flashing? I pressed the off button

I look above the speedo and the green cruise words were flashing? I pressed the off button and held it down and nothing cleared it? Got to work shut it off and turned car back on and it cleared? Anyone have this problem.
