Default Really dumb 7AT question, is there a sport mode?

Yes there is the M mode and yes I can use the shifters but isn't there a dedicated sport mode? My TDI golf has one...

As does every Infiniti with the very same 7AT...

May be it is just a hidden setting I am missing...

No, but it will rev match the down shifts.

turn off the traction control & leave in "D",,,it will know what to do!
Also;learn your Kalimitry for each gear & don't rev over past 7500,or limp mode will kick in. "D" mode will keep you safe/just under 7500 rpm between shifts...but;wont alway's drop down to 1st or 2nd at speeds under 40mph,,,you have to manual down shift.
1st,0-35
2nd-55
3rd-85
4th-125
5th-175(pending if your speed limiter is in place or not;otherwise will top out @155,156 just under 7,000rpm.
for giggles,,,6th-205 & 7th-228
Dyno showed mine hit's governer @156;while speedo read 158.
0-156 just over 30sec.(drop in k&n air filter's only)
rolling 40 & under/you may have to manually down-shift till rpm's are around 4500-5 for best power.
this is all pending that you have the stock 3.359:1 diff. & stock diameter rear tires.

There is no Sport Mode but the ECM and TCM will adjust themselves depending on how you have been driving for the last few minutes. The more aggressive you drive the more aggressive the drivetrain becomes.

D mode does not exist.

M mode only lol

OP: read this and learn it's good info

i'm just happy I bumped my rev limiter and no speed limiter anymore with my tune. also through tuning you can get your tranny line pressure raised for faster/harder shifts.

never timed myself but it gets the speed up quickly with exhaust, intakes, tune. on the Mexican highwways I've had it well over the stock speed limiter

Uprev or ECUtek, you can swap drive maps to a "Sport" mode, "Normal" mode, and "Economical" mode among a few others.

OP: no there is no "Sport" mode but like others have said its already an aggressive drive. Some of the same tech that's in the manual is in the auto, such as rev matching.

I find if I throw it into the shifter mode I usually become more of an aggressive driver.

I am my own sport mode.

That is a real bummer that we don't have that. It just seems silly. Yes I get the whole shifting manually, but having the different transmission modes would certainly help a fair amount, and they have the programming for this trans already.

I am seriously puzzled.

the car is always in sport mode its a sports car.

you do realize that "sport mode" in the manual cars is to give it rev match on the downshifts which the AT has at all times...

Revmatch on downshifts yes, but this has nothing to do with a sports mode also not sure why you're trying to draw a correlation between a manual and an auto car?
Yes I am aware the manual guys get to push that button for the rev matches but this is completely irrelevant to the question at hand.

And "always in sport mode" is a seriously strange answer.

As I clearly pointed out the Infinitis with the exact same engine/trans combo do have a sport mode... and we don't. Just seems odd, it is a really easy feature to add.

there is no sport mode on the fly like the infinti but that's also due to infinti's being factory tuned to be soft and luxurious not sporty. so they give the option to press a button and stiffen up the shifts and make it feel sportier. also everything I've read on the g37 DS mode it doesn't do much. the best way to use the AT is to just shift it yourself.

the Z is built and tuned with spirited driving in mind hence there not being a sports mode button. it's tuned from factory to go go go.

you can however as I stated before have the line pressure tuned to make the AT shift even harder. I recommend it to anyone who gets their Z tuned since most don't know its an option with uprev or ecutek.

All that said... does the GT-R have a sport mode ? Arguably that car is also tuned with spirited driving in mind.

I have no issues with the D programming in the Z however going through canyons etc I'd prefer a sport mode that keeps the revs high 4000+ without throwing the car back into 7th after 2 seconds of not hitting the gas.
