Racing from a Roll?!

Which would win in a roll race a 7AT or 6MT?(Stock vs Stock) Not trying to start another manual vs auto.. Just curious?

Probably the 7AT, but street racing is stupid and you should always obey all posted speed limits.

In an all-else-being-equal situation, the AT will come out ahead. But not by enough to choose AT over MT if you prefer to DIY.

But things are seldom equal in a race. ;)

DjSquall 09-14-2015 10:39 AM

The 7AT will be just a tad quicker.

But my money will be on that Ford Crown Victoria with its flashy lights and stuff.

7AT beats 6MT. simple as that.

better gearing, better shift times, and pretty impossible to mess up unless you just forget to upshift.

Davey 09-14-2015 11:20 AM

Automatics. :shakes head:

Street racing...

or it could be one of those new Dodge Chargers with the silver thingamajig hooked up to the engine to make it faster with all the pretty freedom colored lights

Red, white and blue... stand for "freedom" until they're flashing in your back window

Granny shifting not double clutching like you should

DIGItonium 09-14-2015 12:11 PM

I don't know about you guys, but my thumbs get pretty sore button mashing upshift and downshift on the controller. So I think automatic is preferable, and I get better times in Gran Turismo that way. :stirthepot:

Ghostvette 09-14-2015 12:14 PM

Maybe they are like the Fiesta ST's? lmao... modded ford focus police cars... lol.. :wtf2:
I still think that the Saudi Arabia $7.6 million dollar police fleet is still the example that should be set for cracking down on street racing and being able to have an effective police force while in a car chase of some sort just cause they can catch almost anyone no problem.

I don't know if the American Police can actually handle that kind of responsibility though. :icon14:

I once watched a video where a 370z 6mt smoked a r35 gtr. Manual vs. DCT. DCT fail!

The twin turbo 370z that beats the red GTR with the a-hole driver that flips them off when he takes off a little bit in front of them on the first race haha? that video? :rofl2:

I love that video cause its that underdog win. :yum:
(not that I am promoted street racing nor do I intend to promote or take part in, there is a track for a reason and that's where the real racing begins)

Speaking of which, it also depends on which car has less throttle lag. :icon14:

So tune it for no throttle lag haha and upgrade your throttle body

But OP says (stock vs. stock) :tiphat:

birdman71 09-14-2015 01:45 PM

I would assume that the A/t has less throttle lag cause theres no clutch

GZ3 09-14-2015 01:52 PM

its funny people say gas pedal....technically its an Air pedal...it control the throttle and that modulates the air.... even with vvel its still technically an air pedal

birdman71 09-14-2015 01:58 PM

and like how in all electric cars everyone still says gas pedal... I correct them sometimes.. No its an electric air pedal haha.

2009_370z 09-14-2015 02:06 PM

The sheriff's in Santa Clara, CA have corvettes .

birdman71 09-14-2015 02:08 PM

Pretty Much exactly how anyone handles a situation nowadays haha

2009_370z 09-14-2015 02:14 PM

I actually don't know. Whenever I drive by, I quickly glance but don't ever want to get close to it LOL. There's only one though, for the sheriff. They also have a few chargers, probably for the higher people but below him. And then the normal cop cars.
