its a little less impressive on a dynojet, but its still a good gain... its actually on pair with all the other people getting tunes...

Yeah I'm surprised he's not into the 300's, considering his mods. Caneman -- is your car manual or automatic?

Edit: I just went back through the thread and noticed that he doesn't have the G3 intakes. That would account for some of the difference.

It is a AT Sport/Touring
Rich at UpRev was saying that the G3 vs the short tube is about the same because the longer tubes get hotter than the smaller tubes.
I'm not sure if it makes that much difference.

Hey man, I'm just trying to come up with logical reasons your car isn't making more power. I'm thinking the AT has something to do with hit. I know wstar also found that his car (also AT) made less power on the dyno. But I think he said it has something to do with the difficulty of getting a 1:1 gear ratio with the AT. In other words, it's not necessarily that AT cars are putting less power to the wheels than MT per se. It's just harder to get dynos to read right due to the gear ratio thing. (Not that it matters vis-a-vis measuring gains, mind you.)

5th gear is a 1:1 on the 7AT.

Also the final drive has different ratios on the 7AT. Probably the combination of the lower ratios in the transmission and shorter set in the rear end is what makes the 7AT faster in the 1/4 mile...that and the fast shift times!

Seriously though, between those two items (5th being 1:1, FD ratio's being different) - that will reflect differently on the dyno if it's not compensated for.

Might be better to look at it as a percentage gain rather than hard numbers....

6.1% gain is not bad from *just* a tune...

It's not bad at all, not bad at all.

I found wstar's dyno thread, btw. 7AT w/ I-H-C-E Dyno'd

This is what I was trying to remember regarding the problem he encountered doing a dyno with the 7AT:

"Attempted 5th gear run on same DynoJet, doesn't fly because with the 7AT's rear-end ratio, you can't top out the revs in 5th due to the stock ECU's speed limiter tripping at 160 mph."

Yea I was wondering the same thing why it did'nt show some of the gains of the MT ? The way they measured the Dyno was using the paddle shifters and only used 1 thru 4 gears. After the last cool down also tryed 104 octane fuel to see if we gained anymore HP it kept the gains the same even after the engine heated up that was all.
Overall I'm very happy with the tune this was the 1st 370 w/mods they have done at UpRev so as things progress I'm sure they will find new ways to pull more HP at of the great VQ37 Engine

I forgot one mod the Fog light I think I got 50 HP out of it

Your numbers actually make perfect sense now. If they were measured in 4th gear, they will come in a little lower. That true even with a MT car. I know this because when I did one of my dyno runs on a DynoJet a few months back, the tech accidentally did it in 4th. If I remember correctly, it made a difference of about -10whp.

What is the ideal gear for a 6MT?

Ah, thank you, do not remember what my last dyno was in but he said he did it in the same gear as before so if mine was low on one it was low on the next.

Sharif was telling me that with Dyno Dynamics, he can adjust the settings to compensate for whatever gear he's running the car in. So as long as your guy had the settings correct, it shouldn't matter. DynoJets do not have that setting adjustment, however, so it's more important to be in the correct gear on a DynoJet if possible.
