Everybody disses Hyundai Kia... But they have Real shifting AT's in their vehicles, not CVT's They get real LSD's for track duty They been having a strong line of turbo engines since 2012. Hyundai is NOT FAR BEHIND from Nissan. And there advantage potential in the near future is higher than ours. While currently behind in chassis rigidity they are about to change generations. Then what? Once they go all aluminum forged suspension, get ecu programming right and get Downshift Rev-Matching. They will become REAL COMPETITION. What if they get a Rays contract too or a formidable wheel company next gen? The 2.0 is coming back next gen with over 300hp and Kia will have a comparable coupe. Hyundai is making strides while we're falling into generics. I'd rock the optima before my altima if I was buying today? Hyundai's new slogan should be... Hyundai... "Laugh at us now, cry later." Nissan's slogan will be... Nissan... "Turning track legends into cute ute's" My point to this thread was if Nissan would update our cars properly, this comparo wouldn't even exist. But Nissan doesnt. So here it is. The stark reality that Nissan is slippin'. I'm a Chevy/Nissan guy as well when talking sub-premium. But I accept reality that my car company doesn't have it together except for the GT-R. And even that one is kinda long in the tooth.

The only other vehicle I would consider trading for my Z costs over double the price, and is German. And I still think the Z has superior styling. |

When Kia announced the GT4 Stinger concept my interest peaked, why? Own a Kia and it's been good so far (knock on wood), that and a 5 year warranty (10 years in the US) helps. Stinger is no where to be found so I decided on the Z, no regrets at all on the Z and I'm loving it, but then again I wanted a real V6 manual sports car before they disappear, and unfortunately the writing in on the wall.

Whenever I see any Hyundai Genesis, being it base or one of the meaner models, I feel superior in my Nismo both looks-wise and quality-wise. Other cars I considered were Mustang GT and Cayman. I just don't feel the Hyundai matches up with any of the 3.

The Mustang, the porsche, the Z all have heritage, years in motorsports, a rich history... They have stood the test of time. Tried and true Im not gonna buy a vizio tv just because its "comparable" to a sony

How can anyone justify a Z cute ute rumor for the future??? How does heritage play into a mini SUV Z?Anyone??? That's like building a truck and calling it a motorcycle. Where would be the philosophy of heritage in a SUV CROSSOVER??? Dwell on the past you may. But I'm looking at what Nissan is planning tomorrow, not what they did yesterday. I own a Z today. What will I own tomorrow? Does Nissan care about our opinions enough to make what we want? That's the issue at hand

If the next gen Z is a SUV? I'm going upmarket anyway. I'm just waiting for a couple more cars to be intro'd before I plunge. Like the turbo line up of Porsche's the AMG GT, the Camaro Mustang showdown and at least see the Z concept before I buy. If Hyundai puts out a 3,400Lb 420+hp car... forged aluminum suspension with all the right bits. I'll be interested. And Hyundai had the Genesis coupe on the Rhys Millen racing team. It's making strides. All car companies start somewhere... Hyundai has had a stronger beginning than most first time RWD Sports cars.

Lol. On the SUV worth owning instead of a next gen Z.. The Cayman is a great car. But IMHO, Nissan has a responsibility to its customers in the 30K new car price range

I don't particularly care for anything in Hyundai's current line up, and it doesn't matter to me personally who drives one. I just have a preference for Z's. Combine those two factors together and unless Hyundai convinces me otherwise- with much better styling and performance, Z wins every time.
I feel like Kevin on Shark Tank. Hyundai is making great strides and doing good things, but I don't want to take those strides with them. I'm out I want a car that can compete with the likes of the Mustang GT, Cayman, and yes, the Z. |
