Default Programming / adding a FOB?

I was told by the dealer that I'd have to bring it in to them to add a FOB.

I ordered one off The Z Store, one of those chrome ones that (I think) has no buttons

Just wonder if I really do have to take it in to have it program, or if it can be done DIY?

link...didnt see it on the zstore...

when i ordered a blank key for my 04 mach1 off the bay it came with instructions on how to program it, but i had to have 2 programmed keys in order to program a third...elsewise i would have to pay ford 200 bucks to program the key...

i would think there is a simalur way to program the z fob without having to go thru the dealer, but not sure...need more info on this zstore fob...

EDIT: Damnit, I was wrong, it's a plain, non-electronic FOB =(

Order cancellated! Epic Fail!

If its the $10 one I am looking at now, that is not a key fob.

Edit: I see you figured it out.

most of the new fobs now-a-day you have to hook it up to a scan tool to program...and whatever the dealership charges for it is pure profit...
