Would $1000 toward new tires appeal to you?
So I think I'm going to sell my Z. It's a 2012 and I only have about 20K on it seein' as how it's parked for about 4 months of the year due to snow.
But it needs new tires. My thoughts are: go ahead and put new tires on it and sell it at a 'normal' price. Or, sell it as if it had new tires and give $1000 cash (about what tires will cost) to the buyer. Which would appeal to you-new tires or having cash to choose new tires? I figure that the majority of people will finance it so they may not have a thousand laying around to put new tires on it right away. |
Just don't sell it like that to a drug addict. They'd snort the $1000, then crash and die from not having good tires...
Seriously though, I'd put tires on it yourself for less than that, and then use "new tires" as a selling point. |
Rather you not put tires and have the buyer beat you up over that.

And/or wait for some used tires to pop up for cheap

I'd rather pick my own tires.

It's all personal preference with tires as far as brand, size, and grip. As for the general idea of having new tires. It is better than not having new tires.
You don't have to go buy the most expensive tires out there, you should be looking into some tires that get the job done for selling the Z. Not only that, new tires are new tires regardless haha. Once the tires you put on there wear down, the new owner will have had it for a while, depending on where in the country it goes to, and after them having the car for a while then they can put whatever tires they want on there. |
