Okay so what's the deal?! Do I have to contact my dealership or what?!

Odd...I changed my oil and had the car idling for a bit and it was completely fine. Is this happening on autos and manuals?

I have a 6MT and I have no noise issues; That or I just don't notice it.
Can you describe this "ECU" noise? Like what it sounds in comparison to...And when it occurs? Either way thanks for letting us know. Most of us just don't want to come into a dealership not knowing if we even have a problem or not.

nice OP!! When I first hear people talking about high frequency noise, I thought they got a lemon, but I actually try to listen to it very closely in my car (turn my head side to side), I could actually hear it pretty clearly. Guess, I will bring my car in to get a new ECU.
Thanks OP, |

Great news, thanks natenyc123.
While it hasn't been every car, its been quite a few, and mine did not start doing it until 8000 miles. I figured Nissan would get a fix sooner or later, but was not looking forward to going back and forth with the service dept. Thanks again, great news!

The noise is a high pitch frequency that is coming from the ECU ( says the dealer) and not the fuel pump as first thought. If you turn the radio off and leave your car on for at least 5 mins it is there..faint..but there. As I put more miles on my Z it seems to be getting worse. I have 7,000 plus on mine now and I can't bare it. Hope this helps

*************BULLETIN UPDATE**************
Ok guys. I went to pick up my car and found some information. The Bulletin on this noise is "coming" in a few days/weeks. My dealer called in a "factory rep" who immediately knew the problem and said to go ahead and order the replacement ECUs. However, the darn things are on backorder. arggggg. There is no bulletin # or info I can give you...BUT if you call your dealer service or go there, you have to ask them to call their FACTORY REP and all of them know of this problem. They will order a new part for you and when they get it will call you. I'm stuck with this noise until my part arrives. That's all I have...spread the word. I guess this is fresh news and the ball has just started rolling with this process. -nate |
