What year Nismo to get
So I just got rid of my FD and am looking for my next project. I'm considering a Nismo and thought I'd ask you guys if there was any model years that are better than others. Obviously the 15's seem to be a lot of changes so I'm just curious what you guys have found were the better year to play with and are there any years to avoid. I know sometimes the first years that a car are made can be a little buggy.

2009 to early or mid 2012 has the steering lock issue..
2012 or 2013 and up .. it has the oem oil cooler added on that i find useless.... all year 370z needs a after market oil cooler.. size of the cooler depending on what u use the car for... all 370z has a weak csc that is bond to fail at some point.. oh and early years if i recall some has oil consumption issue.. so if i was u.. i would look at 2013 models and up.. depending which style u like more.. 09-13 nismo z is 1 solid color throughout the entire car.. 2014 nismo z is 2 tone.. the lip, side skirt , etc is like gun metal 2015 nismo z is completely new front and rear bumper.. different seats.. different wheels..more sporty looking cluster.. standard blackout headlamps thats all i can think off the top of my head now.. hope this helps |

Leave some cash for a twin turbo kit, lol. I too had a FD for 7 years and I miss my turbos. As you know FD parts were super pricey but some Nismo parts are insane too. The difference is that you can get the parts with out having to search used parts forums. I got a 2013 Nismo and since I live in NV I love being able to run my AC when its above 100 without the car boiling over.

Get a 2013 2014 nismo and save some money to go fi or for mods. The new nismos are pretty nice too if you want newer and more updated interior and body style. I would probably get a used 2013/14 if i were to buy another Z

I think that the 2015+ have the best exterior and interior (those Recaros are awesome!).
Also, I believe those are the only ones where you can get a factory nav unit (if that matters to you). |

2015+ is also the only way to get an AT Nismo

id get the earlier models (before the black trim pieces on the bottom) if going by style.
id get the 2015/16 models if going by age and interior. im not a big fan of the new nismo's exterior nor the wheels. |

Have a 2010. Bypassed steering wheel lock, upgraded CSC, clutch, intake and exhaust and Uprev dyno tuned . No issues and love the car and plan to keep it N/A.

The lack of tech, etc always gave me pause before. Then I wasn't sure about the two tone thing for 14. New front end, especially the DRL and the rims are what tipped me over my hesitation due to the red and the smaller spoiler (which I now appreciate for both much more now!).
