I really wish they would do a more baseline style analysis.

For example, they state that XYZ car will be the basis for all comparisons, not because it's overly good or bad, just so that we all have a common basis for complaints and compliments for other vehicles.

Heck, pick an "editor's choice" from 3-5 years ago.

If you really want to get into it, pick a car that it accepted as a "standard" for that class of vehicles - for example the Cayman S would be the starting point for most euro cars (IMO)

Funny, you hardly ever hear about this in the press.

I think my '09' Cayman S is bit quieter than the 370 I had previously. The CS is equipped with the new PDK and that in itself makes for a quieter cruise due to lower RPM's in 7th gear. However, a change in tires would make the Z quieter if that's what you want. I always liked the sound of the Z.

Modshack coming from both TTs I really thought the new TT (and MKI too) was really good in keeping road noise down, you dont think so?

I wish there was a serious comparo of a few sports cars..but it wil never happen. Something that measured not just interior noise but tire noise, engine noise, exhaust noise, tranny noise, wind noise. Subjective, not just decibels in total.

My 07 Cayman S was the loudest car I ever owned as far as interior noise goes. Rarely used the 9 speaker Bose system due to the wonderful roar of the engine behind my back! The 370Z's I have test driven are not nearly as loud as the CS and it is not a concern of mine anyway. Engine note and road noise is why a top level sound system is not a priority for me in a two seat sports car.

these people who constantly complain about the noise in the 370, news forya, it is not thsat loud, i have driven one and loved it. what are you buying the 370 for? it's not a buick guys, if that is what you mwant then get a buick and be quiet. sports cars are about emotion and adrenalin pump, fer chrissakes stop your winging!

I'm sure the MK2 is better...The MK1 was sensitive to tires though IMO. OEM Pilot sports were good, Kuhmo 712's not so good after 12K, SO3's good to the 20K mark...I've driven plenty of loud MK1's with various other combinations. Some that were actually painful to drive because of tire noise.

I don't find my 370 particularly noisy. The road/tire combination accentuates it in different situations...Just like most cars which was my point. Tires are often the biggest contributor.....

dunlop sportmax tires were the quietest for me so far...but not sure if they come in our size. i had it on a cooper-s before.

i never thought the 370Z was loud... ofcourse much louder than a lexus hybrid... those things are deadly silent.

Z is NOT that noisy and the engine note is NOT that bad at all.

The critics just want to find a way to 'keep it down a notch'. The Z is impressive. It, IMO, is more than close enough to the CS when you factor in cost. I am, of course talking minus the CS's PDK.... That thing is awesome...

I didn't think my Z was noisy until I hit 6k rpm. My beautifully sounding sports car turned into a blender full of quarters when I passed 5.9k RPM.
