Such thing as insurance for the CSC?
I mean, if it's a "for sure to go" item, could we look into a policy or coverage for this and related charges?
I'm not a gambler, but this seems like a great idea, if there is such a thing. Thoughts?

there are mechanical policies you can look into. IMO you're better off either replacing it when you get the chance along with another mod your doing or just waiting for it to go and upgrading it.

id just buy a spare csc and keep it with you if you're that worried. plus you track your car, right? just change it out when you get a new clutch and or fly wheel? i read total charge with labor is around 850-1000. to me dat's not a big deal?
my worry is the towing damage. and if i can detect fluid drop, then no need to tow. |

The best insurance is to buy the HD CSC or CSC elimination kit, put it in a sealed bag/box with $800 and wait. There are mechanical breakdown insurances, they will cost you more but also cover more.

btw, yesterday i posted in the maintenance repair section about my intermittent creaking clutch pedal. the noise coming from the csc, etc.
i changed fluid recently and that was causing the noise. i cycled the car and it's noise free. csc not leaking any fluid. ranger method recommends prestone dot4 for corvettes, i used my usual valvoline dot4. after one cycle, noise free now. if you guys are getting creaking after fluid change, it could be the fluid itself not providing the lube the system needs. |

yah, im just saying if you set aside money in your bank for possible failure, wouldn't that not be enough? speed up the process by keeping a spare csc in your garage or something, ready to go. and if your csc never fails, heck, you got a grand to spend on your next ride and sell the csc. |

I looked at a csc elimination kit pict the other day, and kinda lol'ed that it's basically the old design the 350Z/G35C's came with. |

I bought the Z1 kit when my master started getting soft. I enlisted some help and did the install over a weekend. I did not want to get stranded since I drive all over Texas, including places with no cell service and no traffic. Road side assist doesn't do much good when you can't call them
