A new motor is definitely not a bad thing though less miles and at least you know it probably won't have the oil consumption issues

I liked my 09 better. It sounded more raw and seemed to accelerate mildly faster than my current 11. My only issue was I had a Lil bit of axle slack, so on hard take offs, you hear this loud *** bang!!! The spring rates are mildly stiffer as the 11 spring rates were mildly softened for comfort.

There were some cars with ECU whine, but Nissan can flash the ECU to fix it. Fuel starve exists till this day. Oil consumption..... Hmm lots of guys got new engines with those types of chronic issues sooooooo, I doubt you'll run into that. No heated mirrors. CSC existed then of course. I think you're good.

I too was color specific when shopping for my Z (pw/orange/full loaded/6 sp). I had a hard time looking for mine and I imagine your combo is even harder. So if that's your only combo, then i wouldn't mind going with the 09 even though it lacks certain options. As far as the oil cooler and steering wheel lock... it is ok w/o the oil cooler if you don't track the car and the steering wheel lock is probably replaced with the latest version by now or you can always pull the fuse.

you also save a few bucks being an older model. I'd say go for it if it checks out well. MB/PW is a very nice combo.

I don't know where people are getting oil starvation from, that has only been an issue for dedicated track cars so far. I can only assume they mean oil CONSUMPTION. The '11 steering lock was updated but still can fail. '11s don't have an oil cooler, and the CSC is a problem for all manuals. '12s were the first year where there were any changes worthy of note.

Z1 makes the external slave cylinder so this is really not an issue if you don't mind forking over some $450 for a much better slave cylinder.

the guys over at corner3 garage didnt seem to impressed with the build quality on that Z1 part....and now im back on the fence of whether i should just get the zspeed hd csc or ignore them and go with the Z1 part anyway

What are they talking about?

The build quality is fine. Mike The Powdercoater has tons of track time on his. Not to mention, the cylinder itself is easily replaced and only costs $60 if something happens (I haven't heard of anyone needing to replace it yet). My favorite benefit is the fact that I never again will have to drop the transmission if I have problems with the slave

Interesting pretty much everyone on the forum that I know have it say nothing but good things about the z1 csc elimination kit.

sorry to threadjack, but about how hard would you say it is installing the Z1 part and also, would you have to replace the master cylinder? only reason i ask is because i was quoted $900 for installing a clutch kit and the Z1 part and was wondering if that price seemed alright to you guys.

If you're doing it on jack stands in your garage, I can attest that it is a pain in the a$$. It took me two full days with knowledgeable help. If you've got access to a lift, have the tools, and have some experience, it will probably be much less of a pain. Absolutely replace the master cylinder at the same time. That $900 figure seems a bit high to me, but it's not so high that locations with higher shop rates wouldn't be in that ballpark. We have $80-90/hr rates around here, so transmission labor should be closer to $500-600. But if shop rates near you are pushing $120 like they can in some parts of the country, then $900 might be a decent price. Figure book rate is seven hours of labor or so.
