Question
Hi everyone, about 7 months ago I purchased a 2011 370z Monterey blue with that orangish interior, with only 4900 miles. It was perfect, unfortunately an inexperienced driver failed to yield the right of way, made a turn hit into me and my car landed on its side, and the cars totalled. I am getting money back from insurance but its so hard to find the same car with the same options (Fully loaded) I did find one though, everything is pretty much the same but its a 2009 model. Since that was the first year they made that car is there anything different that I have to watch out for maybe defects or problems compared to a 2011? Thanks.

I'm not sure if there are any mechanical differences that are prone to failure, but a couple of niceties that immediately pops to my mind is a fully loaded 2009 does NOT have rear view camera for the NAV and heated mirrors like the 2011+ does.

you should also consider all the little revisions that were done by the engineers that we don't know about.
First model year vs mid cycle, I'd say at least 3-5k difference just in model years. |

Good luck finding a monterey blue fully loaded with that color interior....there were only 23 ever made for the entire north american continent...41 if you count the automatics as well

Other than the oil starvation issues which only effected a certain run of vins there are no mechanical issues. Aftermarket oil cooler can always be added as well to reduce oil temps though my 09' has never gone above like 225 degrees with hard driving.

As long as you get the warranty and you dont mind not having heated mirrors then I dont see a problem with an 09". Especially if they really only made that few in that color combo, I'd go for any year lol.

May want to check and see if they have a carfax on either of them also, at some point the engine might have been replaced on one of them....i recently picked up an 09 myself in the same color except for black leather interior and discovered that it had it's engine replaced back in 2011 at slightly less than 24,000 miles. Havent had one issue with the engine thankfully, but made me glad i opted to purchase the extended warranty the dealer offered. Oh and the production numbers i quoted are the real deal, there is a member on here that works for nissan and he was kind enough to make a tool to look up production numbers for the Z, just do a google search for 370Z production statistics and it will be the first result
