We will see if this pic upload through tapatalk works Saw this z across the street today... Just doesn't look right.. Kinda like a Miata? Does it look like that to anyone else? Sorry wasnt fond of some of these designs. My 40th is so wonderful compared Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I'm sure I'll get bashed for this, but I don't care.
99% of roadsters only look good if they were originally designed to be a roadster, not a hardtop with the roof missing. The 350/370Z wears the cloth top even worse than most because IMO it's the roof line sloping into the big rear flares that make the car. Consequently, convertible Zs look like crap to me and I'd never own one. Flame on.:wtf2: |
I would expect civility here so I don't see the need to flame anyone. :ugh2:
I agree that some convertibles were just an afterthought. |
Flame offf,,, hahahaha.....is that an s2000?
|
Personally, I feel like if you are going to buy a true 'raw' sports car and know a great thing about sports cars you wouldn't buy this car in conv top. I don't think those are people who are buying the car for what it really is and I think they are buying it for the wrong reasons. They are fans, sure, but I wouldn't call them the 'enthusiast' driver. Now if it was targa, completely diff story. But its not, and shouldn't be either. Moral of the story, car looks off conv top because it shouldn't be one.

I completely agree the Z convertible looks ugly guys haha and congrats on the 40th I own one as well! :D

The problem with most z owners is they think the model they own is superior. I've gotten no love from Nismo owners on the road lol.
|
Yeah - agree. I believe the 350 convert. was designed as an afterthought and doesn't look right. The proportions just look off. I think the 370z had the convert designed from the start, so I think they look a little better.
But yea, hard top or bust. |
I think our cars look absolutely gorgeous with the top down. But when that top is up, it looks horrid.
Plus I kinda like the added safety of my hard top :) |
woo check out that integra..
:ugh: |
I am not sure that owning a roadster eliminates me from the sports car enthusiast category. After all, the first sports cars were topless.
I like the looks of a hard top but I love Roadsters and would not want anything else. When the top is down, they are sex on wheels - top up, not so much (on that much I agree). I did not buy the car, however, to be driving it with the top up. I think everyone has their own tastes and I would not expect everyone to have the same opinion as myself. Flame???? Meh! |

While I'm not a fan of the looks of the Z roadsters, I don't think anyone can say that anyone who buys them is doing so for the wrong reasons. I mean, what the hell are the right reasons? Track duties? Autox? Or looking good while getting from point A to B? |

Well kind of when you see a lady who does not drive fast or punch it when she gets a really nice exotic or a very sporty car with lots of horsepower i.e. A 65 year old lady with a Z06 corvette going at 50 mph.
She would have bought the car for the nice looks and because she knows she's showing off a pricy vehicle but she's not actually using it how it was intended to be used which is to be driven hard? I believe that's what they meant by "the wrong reasons". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
never liked the roadster Z's. just personal opinion. reminds me of a solstice :/. miss the TTOPs from my z32 quite a bit though.

my post was reinforcing why roadsters that were designed to be roadsters from the start are considered more valid (for enthusiasts) than roadsters that were originally coupes but later modified into their shape... i suppose. |
WTF? I am a 60 year old woman with white hair and I drive it like I stole it.
So much for stereotypes. :icon23: Quote:

Well...clearly I'll be in the minority here, but considering I used to have an 05 350Z Roadster several years ago...and on my second 370Z Roadster now (2010 and now 2013)...I guess I kinda like them. ;)
I always liked the look of both the coupe and roadster Zs, but I enjoy a car I can put the top down when I feel like it. I'm not quite into the Vette Convertible tax bracket, and wouldn't own a Ford if you gave me one...therefore, find me another fun, fast (300+HP) convertible in this price range. Is the roadster as fast as the coupe? Of course not...but it's it'll still get the job done when I want to floor it...and do so with the top down and shockingly-addictive cooled seats. (Try that in a coupe. hehe ) |
Yeah we just put the windows down... Still get all that air without the sun cancer... As for a good looking vert that has good hp I'd say the S2000 :) those look nice with a hard shell over them replacing the soft top.
