hit and run on my 370z
So me and my gf were talking how much we hate edmonton...lol...i really dislike this place compaired to nova scotia....anyways we were coming to the the parking lot of Walmart. I was on the road and needed to turn left....this women was on the road i needed to get on and she was turning right onto my road. She stopped but she was taking the turn way to wide while she was on her cell phone...so i made a wide turn to try and get around her. Once i realised i wouldnt be able to get between her and the curb/other cars parked...i stopped and honked my horn to get her to start moving forward and right to let me get by. She just kept going straight and scratched up against me. I stopped, honked my horn 3 times and started to get out...she took off. Got back in my car and got through the parking lot as quick and safely as possible. Once i got on the road i was flying down the street to catch up to her. She tried to loose me but she then realised a 2008 Maxima or Sentra(ill explain later) wont out run a 370z. I got my gf to quickly get the plate which she did...once the women realised she wasnt going to loose me she pulled over into a gas station. Her and her boyfriend stepped out and the first words that she said was "i didnt know we hit each other....either way this is your fault and you can pay the damage" I was going to be calm and say "are you ok? any injuries?" but she kinda pissed me off...but i still remained calm. So i said "ok that...whatever, can i have your licence, insurence and registration. At the same time i was trying to contract the police but couldnt find the non-emergency number.
So she said "why dont we just drive to the station" i was thinking we shouldnt but i said ok....on the way she went into a hospital parking lot and tried to take turns that didnt lead us to the station and was speeding pretty fast...once again, she realised she cant out run a 370z so we eventually made it to the police station. Cops wants us to get a damage estimate before the file a report but the women started going on and on that its my fault. I then told the cops that she we hit each other and she took off running and then tried to run again once we agree'd to come to the station. She told the cops "i didnt know we hit each other in the parking lot until we were down the road and i seen him following me" The Officer replied "if you didnt know you hit each other then how do you know its his fault?" So she kept telling stories but they kept contradicting everything she was saying. So we left the station...i had her info and was going to get a estimate and do all that stuff. Took a better look at her info. Faults that i found: 1. Drivers licence does not match up with insurence 2. Insurence does not match up with car registration 3. Says on the registration that its a maxima but me and my gf are pretty sure it was a sentra. So it might be the wrong plates/registration on the car 4. Her insurence runs expires in 3 days. So i called her up and asked why is this info incorrect. She tells me she will call me later cuz she is helping her mother with something (lie) She then calls back about 15mins later and says she talked to her friend...its her friends car. iiunno about her in alberta but back home....if you drive your friends are, even with permission you are not coverd under the insurence. You have to call the insurence company up and add them on for the day to your police or let them know whats going on. My gf's father did that for when he tought me how to drive. So i know its 50/50 in a parking lot. However she was on her phone, she hit and ran, provided me with incorrect info and might not be legally insurenced. If she is insured...what do you guys think my chances are that she will be liable for this due to her mistakes she did. Either win or loose with the insurence...i will be taking this to court...she hit and ran then lied...plain and simple. Might not be alot of damage but its still damage. Anyways heres the pictures Before the car wash: After car wash Accident scene |

My heart sank when I saw the damage man. Sorry to hear all that.
I can't imagine anybody, police, judge, or insurance agent, not realizing how overwhelmingly at fault she was. |

wow thats crazy i didnt know you had to call the insurance company just to get permission, even for a day.
i work for state farm insurance here in america. as far as if you drive a friends car, as long as person A (who owns the car)lets a friend or a relative drive their car, they are immediately covered under person A's coverage. If that friend or relative gets into an accident, then its pretty much person A's insurance premium that will be affected. Same thing for renting a vehicle. if you rent a vehicle from hertz, enterprise or wherever, any existing vehicle coverage carries over to the rental as well. so if u ever get a rental and they insist on you getting insurance, dont take it. waste of extra cash. in america that is, not sure how rental works in canada but man hope everything goes well bro. that scratch was heartbreaking to see =/

Since she gave you phony info, it's obvious she's hiding guilt. In the state of California, giving false info in accidents, fender-benders and hit & runs are felonies.

Get her for false info and get her for hitting and running..... Make her pay for it. Hope her insurance premiums are increased for hitting and running by quite a bit. Don't let up on this. Sounded like the cop didn't care that all her info and papers are messed up... What a hill billy cop.....lol
Did you take pics of her car because there should be marks on it. |

The mismatching papers is shady..... I mean c'mon, none of the registration and insurance papers were proper and she just leaves and carries on.
Hit and run damage costs will most likely come out if his own insurance. |

They both left the scene....thats the issue there. The fact the police werent called to the scene and they both showed up could go either way as shady as a story may seem. Best bet for the OP is to get the police to go and recover the tapes. Like I said I worked Loss Prevention before and they will tell normal people that they dont have tapes outside. ALL places like this do. If he wants to support his case the Police have to go take the recordings and review them.

Edit: I use to work LPO and armed security also so i thought it was really ****** up when the store manager said they didnt have cameras outside. Only reason i left the scene is to chase after the bitch. Really wish that law will pass that they are starting to vote on whether u can drive while on a cell phone. |
