as a percent of cars sold (350z & 370z). how many have had CSC failures? in manufacturing you will always tolerate a certain defect rate. i would assume the CSC failure didn't surpass their threshold. nissan is a company interested in making money. if 98% of the time the CSC doesn't fail under warranty, why would would they care? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- overall i feel fortunate that nissan has even bothered to continue with the Z all these years, while other japanese brands dropped their sports cars or made sad attempts/compromises to make sporty cars. our cup is more than half full as Z enthusiasts. don't like the sound? change the exhaust not enough power? turbo/supercharge it don't like the gauges? rip them out and throw something that works for you your CSC busted? get your *** under there and change it out for something stronger or throw a Z1 elimination kit on there. ***built will always be better than bought.*** what sports car under $100K has everything you want from factory? go to any car forum and you will find guys complaining about something that the factory didn't get right. hell, i'd argue that there are things i'd want to change about ANY car, regardless of price. then again, i am just that type of guy. I love love love my z. and I’ve owned 2 porsches, a bimmer and a turbo supra. Sure no car is perfect. No one will ever make a car to please everyone or even totally please one person. But fun-wise I love it.

I love my car, I will never get ride of it. However it is a mass produced "budget" sports car that I wish some things could have been done better from the start so I wouldn't have to invest more into it after I bought it. First, paint, never seen such thin paint on a car. You need to get a clear bra or you needed to be saving up the paint the front end years down the road. Second, poor fuel tank design. I never had any car where I had to start to plan to get gas at a half tank because half is actually 1/4 or 1/3 of a tank. Finally, even though I personally have not had this problem yet (knock on wood), the clutch system could be improved. Final thoughts, the oil cooler system be it the oil to water system or the one on the review test model should have been there from the start. And the audio system or "upgraded" Bose system are just travesties. The stock audio system is so out dated and poor quality they would be better off with a hole in the dash. Oh almost forgot about the steering lock issue, that was just pure fail on Nissan part, they should just have issued a TSB or pull the fuse and be done with it. |

The Z is a great infiniti parts bin sports car. Well made but Nissan overlooked some things and there are some gaps in performance quality for this caliber car in the price range. That said. No car in the price range still compares. It's attributes outweigh its flaws

How To: Adjust Your Mirrors to Avoid Blind Spots - Feature - Car and Driver Now they recommend adjusting the mirrors almost all the way outward on both sides. The adjustment is based on the idea that on either edge of your rear-view mirror you should see half a vehicle, and in the associated side mirror you should see the other half of that vehicle. You should not be able to see a large overlap, or any of the vehicle behind you in either side mirror. You should not be able to see the side of the car at all. I tried this, and son of a gun, it works. Adjusted this way you can see a vehicle in your side mirror all the way until you can see it in your peripheral vision. I've adjusted my Roadster's mirrors in this manner, and there is no blind spot at all.

i've always wondered how hot the 350Z's oil got. my 07 HR never went into limp mode and i drove that car like it was meant to be driven.

and yes, the top coming down would make backing out of a spot (when parked at an angle) so much easier

The whole visibility thing is why I jumped on that new mirror setup when I found it. According to the article they came out with that in 1995 which makes "new" not all that new. Hey, who knew?
