Nissan has been acting like pu$$ies about this. Rather than downsize and go after the BRZ/FRS and stay under 30k, they should have stuffed a big motor in a lighter vehicle and go after the Cayman GT4 for 35k.

^^^ That's just disrespectful, lol. I feel the OP and agree with the base of his argument as I have posted a thread a few months ago saying that the Z, which is an iconic sports car to me is being dummed down and placed in a market that competes with FRS/BRZ, WRX, Genesis ect. which is an all time low to me cause in the 90's its competitors were 911's, M3's, Supras, NSX, 5.0's, SS's and Vettes. All whom have excelled to a class that the Z isn't even mentioned in. Just my thoughts and this will probably get a negative response just like my thread did, but who cares, rain on.

I am officially done caring until I see a concept.
That said, I highly doubt they will restructure the Z to compete with the twins. In 40+ years, every next gen Z has been faster than the last. I just don't see it.

While the Z is a sharp car and all , the sport coupe market ain't what it used to be. Go to a nissan dealer and ask how many Nissan Quest or Maxima's they sell vs. a 370Z. probably 50 to 70-1,
I frequent a Nissan dealer and they have had the same Z's on the lot for several months...and it's not because people are waiting in the weeds to buy the "next" Z. I also have an Honda product in my household...a visit there and I see the same Accord coupes sitting there collecting dust..if you talk to some maufacture heads...they'd assume get rid of the coupe market. If Toyota thought for a second they could sell 500,000 Supra's a year , don't you think they would have it in their line-up ? although 1 is rumored to be in the makes , will not be a full Toyota..I believe BMW has their hands on it...and it will be expensive as hell and they will make 20,000 ?? good luck getting one. Coupe market has diminished over the years...that is why there is a handful of offerings these days... Enjoy what you got ...I am ! |
