The factory oil cooler comes on all 2012 and later. It is a water to oil cooler that is sandwiched between the engine block and the oil filter. If you follow that single hose you will see that it leads to the engine cooling system.

The prior owner may have removed it and installed an oil cooler only to remove it before selling/trading it in.

Check for plugged coolant hoses or see if he/they joined the 2 coolant hoses.

That would probably explain why you don't have one IF it's not vin related.

having oil cooler > not having oil cooler.

it's like walking in rain with no umbrella vs walking in rain with umbrella with a few holes in it, not the best umbrella but still gives you that much more coverage from the rain.

Thats is true haha i wouldnt call the oil cooler a full unbrella though, in nissan's case of the stock oil cooler i would say its a hand full of papers over your head in a thunderstorm

I got the same results when I switch to Amsoil Signature Series oil. My temps stay at about 215 cruising. Use to be 220. So, a little improvment. Push the car hard in the upper RPM range and the oil temps rise. I have gotten mine to about 240-255 or so with the stock oil cooler.

Amsoil seems to be great oil and doesnt sheer at high temp. I ran ss 5w30 in my 5.0 for 8k with over 30 passes at the track. Sent a sample off to blackstone and they said it was perfect, could have even put another 4k on it.

Anyway i couldnt wait... About to put my car on a lift and see if my 12 has the cooler on it

I switched to Amsoil signature 5w30 just a few weeks ago. I have noticed consistently lower oil temps by 10-15 degrees, even on 80* days, and I do not have an oil cooler. I will say that it takes much longer for my car to reach operating oil temp though.

Previously I was using Valvoline Synpower only because I get it for free. But I wasn't comfortable with it anymore.

Good info, Im going to drain and fill with SS tonight. That oil can take a beating. Im curious what the redline users have to report with with temps.
