A problem that dealers don't even know
Hey guys , I have a 12 nismo 370z and I have heard some noise from my car , it is really hard to describe the sounds but I got lucky to record the noise by iPhone 6 , the reason why I want to post a audio file on the forum because I took my car to biggest Nissan dealership in Charlotte nc two weeks ago , they heard the noise comes from my car too but they are just cant tell me what is wrong with the car and where does the noise come from . They have my car over 2 weeks now , and they have drove my car over 250miles by the time I just took my car to the dealer !!!!!!!!!!!!! From 2 weeks till today , the only answer they can give me is : we tried everything we could , and we don't see any problems, but we heard the noise , we will keep trying to find out the noise problem . . I don't know what to do now guys , they may just going to put more miles into my car and still can not give me a damn answer ! Please help me to post a audio on the forum so that everyone can hear that see what is going out , maybe one of your guys have the same proble to your car !! Thanks !!!! Anybody are interesting in listen to the noise I would be more than happy to send you the audio file by email easily ! I bet you do wanna know what type of noise that dealer can't even tell , right ?

Does it go away when you press the clutch? If you get close to a wall of some sort such as a drive-thru, you'll be able to hear it more

The dealership drove your Z for 250miles and not even a solution to your problem?
I bet every sales rep or service advisor took turns joy riding your Z. Worst used it to for customers to test drive looking to buy a Z. You should have charged them with the miles. I'll burn that dealership down. |

High pitched whine or metal-on-metal?
If the former, it's something electrical -- there used to be a known issue with "ECU whine". There is also an occasional fuel pump whine that can be heard when shutting the car down -- it's possible that something is amiss with the pump or the switch for it. I can't recall the exact reason for the noise, but its worth checking. If it's metal-on-metal, the brake dust shield can make contact with the caliper and cause a horrendous metal on metal screeching noise. On inspection, nothing will be apparent and it doesn't even seem to cause any visible scoring or damage. Basically, the shield just has to be bent back a bit for a few mm of extra clearance. Can you post a recording of the sound? |
Did you record the sound as a video or an audio file?
If you recorded it as a video file, just put it up on youtube and hen post the link here. |

Can you zip it?
|
If so, make sure the zipped file is 97.7 kb or less, then click on go advanced, then click on the paper clip icon and browse for your file and post.

Can you upload to youtube and share a link?
