Back on the tow truck...
So after getting my cars steering wheel lock problem fixed by Nissan for 1300$+, turns out it has to go back in. Drove it to autozone to get my engine light checked out, and as I was driving home, my cars gas pedal wasn't working, and it would jump every second or 2. This sucks and I hope it isnt expensive to repair

Ah! Randomly happened? Did it have enough fuel? Sucks to hear that, I hope it isn't anything major :(

My car has been jumping very much lately if I were driving at a fast speed and I was planning on getting it checked out when I can considering it was fine driving at decent speed, but turns out it just choked itself out. I've yet to read an issue like mine on here so hopefully the damage isn't too big :// |
The first place I would check is the fuel pump.

I'm unsure what you meant by jumping. How is jumping related to the gas pedal?

But as I was driving home, I was turning, and I hit the gas pedal a bit, and the gas pedal completely died and it would go no more than 5 mph while jumping. It's very hard to explain through text, but that's the best I can do. I've tried finding an issue like mine online but I can't. The code from the code reader said: P0340 and that was for my engine light, not for the weird shifting/jumping. Unless the engine light has to do with that, but I Dont think it does. I also got a new exhaust installed (aam short tails nismo fitment on my base) |
P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor (Phase) Circuit (Bank 1)
Interesting... sounds like it would be a fuel starve/feed type issue from how you describe it, but the code doesn't seem related. |
This might be waaay off but if it happens on right hand turns with less than half a tank of gas, it could be fuel starvation. (See phunk's fuel starve fix for details)
I get this at the track a lot. It feels like car misses or foot off pedal for a second or two then come back after you straighten out. (Note my track turn ins are very smooth even though high g. If your cranking your car around violently it night this problem might present differently) I know a lot of guys carry a little spare gas, like a well sealed non smelly gallon, with them to reprime the fuel pumps in case of this. Lots of guys get pulled off right hang highway Ramps at 1/4 tank on this issue. The problem is partly that fuel gets trapped and unusable on the left side of the tranny hump in the tank. |
