Nissan needs to do something
I live in MA and all i see here are mustangs so i did a little research and it kinda mad me feel sad in the process. Im not going to lie these prices for that HP is pretty tempting. Nismo really should come with a turbo version, but then again.. the cost... I just dont know how they can compete with the domestic sports cars anymore.
Here is the MSRP on a few cars. 3.7L Nismo - 350HP - $41,990 5.7L Charger R/T -370HP - $32,995 6.4L Charger R/T Scat - 485HP $39,995 5.7L Challenger R/T - 375HP - $31,495 6.4L Challenger R/T Scat - 485HP $38,495 5.0L Mustang GT - 435HP - $32,300 2.3L Ecoboost Mustang - 310HP - $29,300 |

Consider the Challenger R/T which weighs in at 4,082 pounds and has 375 HP. That's a 10.88 lb/hp ratio. The Nismo at 3,350 pounds has a 9.57 ratio -- dramatically better. You also need to consider handling, uniqueness, etc. Plus, if I am not mistaken, those other cars listed require one to develop an affinity for Old Milwaukee beer and grow a mullet. Avoid the social stigma and stay with the Z.

I traded in my fully loaded '12 Charger R/T for my current Z. I admit this will be my first and last Nissan. But I fully enjoy my car!

You also have to realize when the Z came out in 09, it made more HP than most of the "muscle cars" at that time. Nissan could have done a minor power increase throughout the years, but there's only so much you can squeeze out of a N/A V6.

Those are pigs, heavy cars that don't handle well. The Z is unique.
Same goes with the Porsche Cayman. Almost at the same HP level as the Z. But it is dramatically more expensive. |

Driving to and from work everyday I see at least a dozen Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers Etc. , and when I say dozen...I mean a dozen of each
I maybe see 1 or 2 Z's each week! If you are into driving in a straight line I would recommend one of the American cars, if you want to carve through the mountains with more than enough HP then I would recommend the Z |

The new Camaro will probably be more of a competitor for the Z when it comes out but lets hope the new Z will be even better!
I know its hard to touch American muscle with the VQ37 but let's hope for FI! |

Horsepower / LB is the way that i'd prefer to read the above chart.
As long as you're less than 10lb / hp you should be in good hands.
