Synthetic oil

Hey guys,

I'm coming up on an oil change soon and I'd like to try a better oil than the Ester oil Nissan provides. Any suggestions on oils/filters? I've seen a lot of guys going with Royal Purple or Mobile 1. Also, when I do switch to one of these, is there anything different that I do or just drain the old oil and put in the new as usual. Thanks all.

Redline oil is ester based as well, to keep with Nissan's recommendation. It is pricey, though.

Z1 has it cheaper than anywhere.

Z1 is 9.50 a qt most places are around 11 a qt.

get the Z1 redline oil change kit. oil, filter, crush washer. its what ive used every time.

I am currently using Royal Purple, i like it, it runs cooler than nissans easter oil, also the engine is louder specifically VVEL, it sounds like slightly knocking on idle, but its not actually knocking.

I also suggest a magnetic oil drain plug but I don't know where to get one yet. Anybody know a source for a good quality engine oil drain plug?

Based on research on BobtheOilGuy this version of VQ likes Castrol Synthetic for some reason. I will admit my research is out dated as it was 2010 when I was looking. There is probably a lot more oil analysis data out there to give a better indication of wear metals based on oil type. To be honest as long as you are using a quality synthetic and normal oil change interval you should be fine.

I personally run Rotella T6 Synthetic but that's on a boosted motor.
