The Club, is it worth it?
So I'm not sure how much they upgraded the systems, but for a 2014 model would you put a club or not really needed? Thanks!

I don't think it's worth it with this car, or any other car for that matter, as the steering wheel can be cut with a hacksaw

If you are referring to anti-theft system and seen that you live in Brooklyn I would put anything I can get my hands on. At least the club is visible and It might deter someone unless they are so desperate to steal a Z. But remember that no system is totally 100% secure and there are always ways of deactivating/disabling anything.
To me the best system is a garage (a home garage) not a public garage, and even inside my garage I lock the vehicle. Read these two and might give an idea of what thief are looking for when selecting a target vehicle. Good luck. Great videos Mr. Nismo, you're right if I get a club, at the very least it's a good visual deterrent.

i hear you can put 2 bags of clubs in there.. :ugh:

The Club basically is a visual deterrent only. If someone really wanted your car they can just cut the steering wheel.
The thing about cars these days though is the technology is getting to a point where you can't hotwire a car, the computer won't let the engine start without the key, and if it's a push button start, it's practically impossible without the keyfob. What you can do is get a flatbed truck and just drag it away, the alarm blaring and all. A push button start is a nightmare to a thief. I once had a version of the club in the one that connects to your brake pedal. You may start the car but you can't get it out of park without pressing the brake, and yea the brake pedal is by law made out of steel and the position of the brake lock is awkward to a thief, you are super exposed having the door open and you sticking out to try and get it free. Never had an attempted theft but then again it was a cheap Chevy Aveo so even I wouldn't steal it haha. My BRZ has push button so no anti theft device necessary. -RyanG |

when I visited England my cousin had a device that went over the parking brake and locked on to the shifter. It looked difficult to defeat, and was a visual deterent.

Once saw a 60 Minutes type "car thief" show and they had the club off in 20 seconds...no joke!

I tell my female friends not to lock their clubs for two reasons.
1. You can get in your car and drive away more quickly if you are not feeling safe. 2. If someone wants steal your car they will already have away to defeat the club if it were locked. |
The Club is good for only one thing. Clubbing someone that is trying to steal your car.
Don't waste your money. |
