german cars are not what people think in terms of quality/reliability. in college, i worked at a enterprise branch inside a bmw/mercedes/porsche (yes, all 3 in one) dealership and i would hear so much complaints about BS issues that you would never expect, esp. for the $ you pay.

Only you can decide whether it is a fair deal or not. It all boils down to supply, demand in your area and how much you like the car. Prices vary across the country and there is no such thing as identical used cars.

My take is that you should know the valuation in your area after you checked out a few. So if you found one that you really like and within your budget/reasonable priced, just buy it.

I'm asking $25k drive out - that is a fair offer right? or should I keep looking and ask for something lower?

Nice! I've got the smaller one, the 848. I don't really need the power of an 1198 but sometimes I do wish I had the dry clutch and monoblock brakes.

I'm sorry. Not picking. I just don't know why everyone says that BMW is superior. I didn't really even care for the interior of the 235. And I couldn't understand why a reasonably optioned one hit $50k. ****. And no. It is a cheap, nearly entry-level car. No reason for it to hit that price. And like I said. Rolled like a bitch. I just don't know why people say they drive well. They don't. and 50/50 weight distribution will hinder performance more than help it. Sooooooo....

Anyway.... I guess I need to reference my own post here. Drive what you love and don't go by what Tigger says sucks.
Aloha Tigger, let me explain my "superior to my Z in so many ways comment". The M235i has 4 seats, a real trunk, is smoother riding, road noise is much quieter, manual trans shifter is very clean/not notchy, clutch is lighter and easy to use, plus the music from their base stereo is better than my, no rear 4 speaker sport Z. Over all the 235 is a very good car but not a car for me at this time.

I still prefer the better road hugging sports personality, albeit a little rough around the edges nature of the Z, then add in the Z's steering feel that the 235 lacks and no way could I trade in my Z for it.

As someone mentioned in another post, the Z is the better car when driven in anger. Honestly, I'm very seldom angry but your last sentence sums it up best, "Drive what you love". Guess that's why I still drive a Z

I have been looking for the last two weeks and I have narrowed it down to 2010-2012 370z with Sport/touring in 6MT Coupe.

Problem is, hard to find local dealers that will give me a good price. Anyways, long story short, I was cross-shopping the 370z with a Subaru BRZ and a used WRX if I could find one.

I then mistakenly walked into a VW dealership to look at a used 370z they had and then saw the other VWs...they had a used Golf R that I ended up testing driving

I can't believe the amount of difference in the interior quality of the VW to the nissan! I mean, I know German cars are better built, bla bla, but it was just worlds apart! I used to drive a '07 335i before so I know how good german cars they can be. However, the transmission was BUTTERY smooth in the golf, I was pushing it into gears with 1 finger! The other thing is, since it is a 2.0L Turbo, I just drop a tune in there and I am easily over 300whp and over 350whp of torque!

So basically now, I am sad that the interior of the 370z isn't as nice, more road noise in the Z and I can't afford the Golf because it is almost 5k more than the Z.

My budget is $25k and the Golf R was $30k used.

So here is my question, what other cars did you all cross shop before choosing the Z and why did you pick it?

I know people will say I am comparing apples to oranges but here are some things I am looking for:

-RWD/AWD
-6MT
-good handling/feel
-around ~$25k

Anyways, thanks for listening and helping out!

EDIT: if I end up going with the Z, anything I should be looking out for? Go 2011+ over 2010?
Good Luck with your shopping, i sold a '07 GTI when going to my '10 Z. I felt that the Z was a step up in quality. I was actually only shopping for one car, s2000, however i drove a 370 all day (literally 8 hrs) while i waited for the Honda to be prepped for sale. By the end of the day i left with the 370, it was a weird situation looking at both of them. I drove 3.5 hrs to get the S, but was getting into a Z to leave.

Interestingly i knew nothing about the Z when i told them i wanted to drive it. there was a 135i, cayman, corvettes, mustangs, plus others on the lot but i gravitated to the nissan.

The VW was a solid car, but the turbo cuts out before redline and it did not have the sporty feel i wanted. My Z is loud and harsh and i'm making it better/ worse all the time, its great

And that is why I'm keeping my 1198. I was thinking on getting the Panigale but wet clutch is what keeps me away from it. My clutch is vented and the louder it gets the more I like it. If I get a wet clutch bike then it would be the BMW 1000.

Can't blame you, they're still the best looking thing on 2 wheels IMO. I demo tested the Panigale S back when it came out in '12... They're a lot better sorted geometry-wise than the 1*98 series bikes and they certainly have a $h*t ton of power (way more than what anybody not named Bayliss can use IMO), plus those nifty electronic rider aids. But something's still missing. Maybe sometimes more is less.

I've already got full Ohlins, a Dan Kyle link, Woodcrafts, Termis, and a bunch of other junk on my 848 so I'm pretty much committed to it. I'll add 28 or 30mm offsets, possibly go 520 15/41, and maybe upgrade the brakes and call it lovely.
