Lowered Cars, Middle Fingers
So my Z is lowered and my FI Exhaust Cans, im literally as low as you can go without being slammed.
This morning its beautiful out, so I go for a drive. Here in NY we had an awful winter, and the roads are just shot, total warzone. Im not an idiot so when im on a road im not going to slam on my brakes but rather avoid the large potholes and debris. Whenever I have to make a turn onto an uneven surface, like a parking lot/driveway/or even some streets I have to go slowly or I will scrape the cans, and front chin like crazy. Today only two people honked at me while giving me the middle finger and cursing out their window, which is not too bad. Normally its a lot more. Im not trying to be a ****, ****. Im just trying to not destroy my beautiful car. So sorry for taking 10 more seconds out of your extremely important day. And no, getting as close to my rear bumper as physically possible is not going to make my car go any faster, and no I dont need a push...thanks anyway. |

I do the same thing and as said before I too don't give 3 sh*ts, take care of your car man, it's your baby, just because they treat their cars like garbage does not meant you need to. I do it a lot going and coming out of gas stations, and yes cars have to stop and wait as I take my time, hell I don't want to rip the lip off my car or scrape my beautiful Ark Grip exhaust, my car is freaking beautiful and I plan on keeping it that way :hello:

:shakes head:
Making the rest of the world wait on you is now a badge of honor? It's not that I have never been an inconvenience to others. It's just that I generally don't feel good about myself when I realize that I have done so. |

So if you had to choose between "inconveniencing" others for an additional few seconds or not "inconvenience" them and tear up you car and possibly costing you hundreds/thousands to fix, which one would you choose? |
I would choose "inconveniencing" others once or twice...and not be happy with myself nor brag about doing so.
If I find that the way that I CHOSE to modify my car is constantly holding up traffic, then I would consider changing my setup. My car is lowered, but that's not other people's problem or responsibility. It's not like everyone on the road showed up at my house one day, drew guns on me, and demanded that I modify my car. |
When I pull into my complex I go slow to go up the entrance/curb, and again to go over the speed bump right after. I try not to slow down others too much, as they can see where I park my car and fear they might get "revenge" on me. But, out and about I do not have a problem making people wait, since an extra few seconds will not hurt anyone.

You have to understand that the general populace doesn't care AT ALL about what they drive. It's a totally different mentality between us who care about every aspect of our cars, and the soccer moms that drive Yukons all day doing 95mph. Yes, you're going to piss people off. Just remember that those people are in a hurry to get another mocha frappeciano with sprinkles. If you have another fellow car enthusiast behind you, he/she will be fully understanding of the agony you go through each time you find a dip in the road and need to crawl at 5mph.
My advice. Drink a mocha frappeciano with sprinkles while going 5mph over a dip. |

Now I care about my car and I'll do what I can to avoid damaging it, but I also do so in a way where I'm not inconveniencing others. I've also been on the other end of someone slowing to 5mph to go through a dip when coming off the highway. Not only do people miss the turn signal because of these dicks (even if you're not in a hurry, everyone has felt the frustration of missing one due to the incompetence of another driver), they're also causing an unsafe scenario by purposely going slower than the speed of normal traffic. So no, the behavior is not justified just because your car is precious to you. A little empathy for your fellow driver goes a long way. These are not your private road ways. |

totally agree with the overall sentiment Penguin, but the OPs car actually doesnt look to be super low, fwiw.
|
Why would you ever, ever lower ur car in NY? Pot holes is the reason why i am at stock height. Dude it might look kool, but its not useful at all, in ny at least. Plus you cant enjoy the real feel of the car.
U remind me of the hellaflush lowrider i saw on FDR few month back, not only that he was driving slow it looked like a tub boat in a hurricane storm on those pot holes. P.S. dont ever ever take the FDR even if ur in a hummer. |

Second, the OP isn't talking about slowing down to 5 mph coming on the expressway. S/he is merely talking about pulling into a gas station or grocery store. Your logic of how the OP should be considerate of others goes both ways. The car behind the OP has to understand not everyone drives a Yukon wanting to go 100 mph. And your logic also goes back to my question as to the people that drive below the speed limit and hold up traffic at the same time. Are they d*cks because they're too scared to go any faster? Again, if the OP is modified to a point where s/he has to drive slow, that's different. But if the OP can drive normally and with the flow of traffic, but needs a few extra seconds to pull in somewhere, the car behind can wait. |
i think we should ask bad boy on his thoughts
