I don't want to deal with the headache of them rear ending me because of stupidity and impatience ...

Not sure what people have done to you in the past, but what I'm describing is hardly that...and yes, you will wait for my car to turn or progress at poorly paved intersections, potholes, uneven shopping mall entrances, speed bumps...At some of these places I even do this in my other cars (DD)because the roads are in such bad condition, but I care that I don't destroy my cars...others may not, but they are not MY problem...If the road is in good shape, no way I'm slowing down in the Z

huh? I'm talking about if you were to just pull in somewhere without slowing down, thus possibly damaging something from underneath your car, all because you didn't want to piss off the person behind you. i meant if you were damage your car, will the person behind you fix it.

Either way, it's holding everyone up. Public transportation. some people take forever getting on/off buses. With your logic, why should society have to accommodate them for not having vehicles? No one forced them to used public transportation. LEO's - when officers/deputies switch on their emergency lights for whatever reason and start directing traffic, even though you have the green, isn't my time valuable? with your logic, why should i and society accommodate them? If you are sitting at a light that just turned green and have the right of way, but you still have someone in a wheelchair in the crosswalk, that person is holding traffic up. with your logic, why should i and society accommodate them? However, School buses mitigate this with flashing lights that are pretty high up in plain view. First yellow, so everyone knows that it's going to stop, then red so everyone knows it's actually stopped. A more accurate comparison would be not with the bus driver who's job it is to stop and let out children, but rather with a selfish child that meanders forever slowly across the street while making everyone wait.....just for them. |

No, now you're talking about a totally different concept. See below your statement earlier: "Either you are holding people up or not...." Whether school buses are lit up like a Christmas tree or not, it's still "holding people up". Your comparison has nothing to do with the original point. Quote:

So I presume with your logic, you would say that the person in the wheelchair in the crosswalk would be selfish for holding up traffic? As a human being, I can wait the extra 30 seconds for them to safely cross, rather than being traumatized about witnessing that person being possibly struck and killed by another driver that couldn't "accommodate" them.

Since people's time is such of a huge concern for you, let's say you're driving the speed limit, but the person behind you is late for work, and you're not going any faster to "accommodate" him, and time is of the essence. Since you are theoretically "holding" him up, would you consider yourself selfish? |
