Not normal. My guess is there is something else going on there. Before I cleaned my TBs, my idle would occasionally dip under 500 and the engine would shudder. But never stalled. If cleaning the MAFs/TBs doesn't fix it you have to start looking elsewhere. That is just the first troubleshooting step because it's very easy to do and a good maintenance practice that often goes overlooked

happened to the bimmer I had... start the engine, then stalled, start again, then it sounds like coughing... idle a bit, little rough, then it runs normally....



I checked the exhaust and found no potato... the pipe is too small for a potato... maybe a tomato....
